So I just got a call from Crutchfield that they are cancelling all Stealthbox orders per JL's request.

I was told they simply cant source the parts (which no clue what that means...the subs? the fiberglass box?", the carpet?) and that resellers are to cancel the order.

That F-ing sucks. It was the centerpiece of my project over the winter..and I have a ton of other stuff built around that already purchased.

Boo!

So if any of you guys cant get one, this is the reason why.

Its probably the resin used in the fiberglass itself. The commodity market is nuts right now. Mostly a domestic product in the US, the hurricanes have wreaked havoc. There are also a lot of companies that have used COVID as an excuse to just not do there damn job. Then there is the fact that most of the polymer resins are derived from oil at some point, and it turns out that we took that whole market for granted... just an absolute mess.

My industry is juggling multiple force majeures right now. Preceding 5 years, I have had 1, when a plant in Houston blew up, and it lasted 12 weeks.

I was doing the same thing, putting together the parts in my head for what I wanted for sound. Sucks to hear about the cancellations!

How much do they cost? Are they easy to sell-install?

Right at $1k, they are technically easy to install themselves. You will need an amp powerful enough for the speakers. Ideally 600watt 2ohm capable amp. The hardest part will be installing the amp and other required wiring to get signal/power to the amp.

Once you install the amp and sub, if you have not upgraded the other speakers and added more power to them, you might not be happy. Then you will need to upgrade the rest of the sound system.

The amp I got was the xv1000/5i

It is a 5 channel so I can upgrade everything at once on a single amp.

Have you started the install yet? I just bought the VX800/8i and about to get the VX1000/5i. Running the 800 on the front and 4 channels of the 1000 to the soundbar and 600w to the sub. Running C7 components for the front(1", 3.5" and 6.5") and soundbar(1" and 6.5").

I have not. I have the C2 3.5 for the front and C2 6.5 for kick and sound bar. I felt I didnt cheap out on this system, but damn I could not justify 500 or so a speaker (C7). Regardless, our systems will sound great.

I did get the blue tooth controller and digital audio knob as well. Still waiting on the JL/JT fuse mount.

That fuse mount was hard to find. I have one on the way. I have noticed their fuse holder seems to be sold out everywhere.

What are you doing for the head unit? I am considering the Heigh10 from Stinger.

I’m sticking with the 8.4 and the pac adapter. Yeah that fuse mount is the only missing part for me. I did get the under seat amp rack too. Not sure if I want to drill into the box to mount th amp.

You both will have amazing systems. I just finished the same project almost exactly as you have. Not real impressed with the output from the Stealthbox but definitely the cleanest solution. I had a custom box which i built under the rear seat to hold 4 6W3's and swapped to the Stealthbox after hearing another Stealthbox in a friends rig. I might switch back after testing.

I am currently running C5 1" - C5 6.5's - C7 3.5's in the front powered by Vx800/8i, C5 1's and 6.5's in Soundbar powered by a second 800/8i and a 1000/1i powering the Stealthbox. I would love to switch the C5s to C7s but supply issues changed my mind for now.

Do you have any pictures of where you mounted the tweeters on the dash? I 3D printed some quick pods but feel like there is a better solution.

Having the JL amp racks under the seat and utilizing the amp cutout in the stealthbox made everything appear almost stock :) Also went with the VxiHub. It is extreme overkill and provides no real benefit but how cool to tell people that you have a network in your car connected with cat6 :)

I am still accumulating parts. Trying to decide on how I was going to mount the tweets. Probably something like what you have done.

It could take a few weeks before I get my C7 stuff. I did pull the trigger today on the Heigh10. I did what you did with the hub. Should make it easier for tuning. Hoping to get everything installed at the end of Nov. My plan is to pull everything, install some SoundSkin and the equipment.
