Hey all, first post here. Currently daily a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500, 6" lift, 35s, tuned and some extras. Wasn't looking at changing but have been driving my wife's Sahara JL for about a week as I'm getting some work done and I miss having a jeep. Had one before and got rid of it, still regret it. Gladiator seems to tick all the boxes but I'm waiting to see about diesel and manual option, otherwise I'll drive both and see where I land.

Anyway, my preamble aside, I'm seeing basically all the lifted gladiators with 33-37s have massive amount of the wheel stick out beyond the fenders. I'm pretty familiar with backspacing and all and know that seems to be the in thing to do but I personally dislike it for one and for two I just got tagged because my truck wheels stick out slightly and didn't pass inspection.

Is this simply a backspacing issue? Are 12 wides just too much for the jeep? Is this only on the Dana 44s? (My understanding is they are wider)

If this isn't just a trend does anyone know of an aftermarket fender option that is wide enough to cover 12 wide? I'm looking to run 35-37 on 2-3" of lift if I pull the trigger but I don't want to deal with the hassle of trying to find a garage that will look the other way with that inspection detail.

I'm relatively new to the big tire talk, but I just had my 35x12.5" tires put on 17x7.5" wheels and they tuck nicely under the fenders. No lift here. I personally don't like the wide stance look. I don't rub with normal driving, but it might be tight with large flexing. Curious what the 37" guys chime in with. @WXman will likely have solid input too.

My 315/70s on stock wheels also tuck in nicely. I've taken it off road and haven't noticed any rubbing. I'm not an expert but I think it's all in the choice of wheels. I personally don't like the look of the tire sticking out past the fender but to each their own.

If you need them under the flares to pass inspection, just use stock wheels. If sticking out just a little will pass, go with an offset of +10 to +25. I agree that a lot of the Jeeps we are seeing have ridiculous offset/width. Here’s how mine sits on +11:

Is that a 35 x 12.5?

I think we need to give it a little time for the aftermarket to get up to speed. From the sound if it you are looking for something like the bushwhacker black max which is like 12” coverage.

Personally I think jeep is working very hard to capture more of the typically aftermarket sales but is failing. How many people with low fender trucks are gonna go back to the dealer tobuy high fenders to fit big tires? Integrating the turn signal pretty much strangles the market for a while. Why not partner with someone like bushwhacker and offer the Official Mopar Jeep Trail Fender with dot compliance! Etc...
