Interesting spot for the rear fog, I have usually seen them on bumpers near the lower reflectors. Between the bumper and tailgate could be a decent spot for a chase light.

The fog light is almost twice more powerful than the rear tail lights . You know Europe and his weird and specials rules …. Good or not I don’t know it’s just the law .
Yes it used to be that all VWs, Audis, and Porsches sold stateside still had rear fog lights, just because they didn't have a reason not to, and they were required in the home country. This is no longer the case though. Americans don't know what they were anyway, and it's not uncommon to see German cars with them on for no reason here.
