No need for it for me but kudos on our ingenuity and design.

Though I'm unsure I'd want to be slammed into that in case of an accident or having the airbags deploy and turning it into a UFO. Now if I had something that would slip over my tube doors that might be different ;)

Fun use of 3D modeling and printing.

Primo Workz ($) and Epic Adventure Outfitters ($$$) both make padded ones with pockets or a cup holder.

The Epic one looks like it has a bigger elbow pad but I've had the Primo version since before Epic came out with it and it's been awesome.

I got tired of trying to fit my elbow on the windowsill when the window is rolled up. Couldn't find anything like this other than the expensive canvas one with the pockets and the cupholder. This is simple, prints in 4 hours using TPU 95A and stays in place where you want it.

Feel free to print one for yourself. If you want me to print one for you, I'm sure we could work something out.

Hey Kevin,
Nice job and thanks for open sourcing it. Question, Is it just preference (Soft vs hard) for me not using PETG?
Thanks again.

I prefer TPU because it's not going to scratch the interior and it's nice and squishy. You could definitely do petg or abs, but you'd want close to 100% infill for rigidity. The way the one in my jeep works is that when my elbow is resting on it, it sags slightly and has a bit of cushion (due to the 6% honeycomb infill). I made a version with a much bigger pad and it was cushier, but it sat too high.

Just using a rigid material will work, but it won't be as comfortable.

What version did you go with? I’m on the fence on which one to buy. I prefer the “ripstop” but unsure if it’s going to be comfortable.

I have the ripstop. They didn't have the "max" version when I ordered but I probably would have done that if they did.

The ripstop was a bit abrasive on long drives at first but I got used to it pretty quick.
