I ended up going with a 40% ceramic for the windshield. I drove with it at night for the first time last night and it was barely noticeable. My drive into the office this morning was directly into the sun and it was a lot easier on the eyes than usual. Overall I am really happy with my choice.

First, make sure it's legal in your state. In IN it's illegal to have anything below the brow (top 10 or 20% of windshield) tinted. On my car I got a full windshield 50% and it helped cut the light really well and you couldn't really tell it was tented (also had a brow tint). On my Jeep I want NO tint on the windshield. I think it would be incredibly annoying to have the roof/doors off and have that unfiltered light coming in from every angle except the windshield. Going more than 50% will impair your darker weather vision.

After a couple weeks I still am very happy with my decision. 40% isn’t really that noticeable inside the Jeep, but as you can see parked next to my 4Runner (without a tinted windshield) there is a big difference. They both have the same percentage all around other than the windshield.

I had mine done at 50%. It is subtle and doesn't get a 2nd look from police. I've had previous cars at 35% when I was younger and it seemed to draw a lot of attention, but I liked it. I recently drove a truck with 35% and thought it was too much, so I am glad I went with 50% (I figure I'm just getting older). I don't see how you guys with 20% drive at night. You must be in your early 20s!
Do you have a few exterior pics? I'm leaning towards what you did.

Let me know if you want something closer. I can take it when the sun (hopefully) comes out tomorrow.

Wow! That is a beautiful gladiator! Now I have more questions. I love the look of that tint.... It's just enough. I'm assuming it's still decent to see out of at night? Anything specific I need to tell the window tint company to get your look? Lastly, can you please tell me what rock rails and front bumper those are? Really nice tasteful build!

0%. First it's illegal here. Second my nighttime vision is bad enough without adding to it. I'm honestly surprised it's legal in any state to tint your windshield.

The bumper is a Rugged Ridge Arcus which used the factory fogs ( a big plus for me). The steps are Rock Slide Engineering. As for the tint, I told them 50% on the windshield and make the front doors match the rears. I think that comes out to 15-20%, but I would think a reputable tint place should be able to just match the rear if that is what you ask for. The only time I have issues is if its a very dark night and I am backing up and really want to see what is next to me.

Windshield tinting for the purpose of eye protection seems to be a pretty expensive permanent idea as opposed to putting on sunglasses.
For aesthetics, I get it, looks good, but the local enforcement here gets excited on front side window tints, windshield would be an automatic pull over. Don’t need the hassle personally.

Yes the only allowed tints in NY is LEO’s personal cars/trucks.
