Problem: less than 2 week old 2020 gladiator 3.6 auto rubi wont start (clicks, no crank).

History:
1. At dealer 2 weeks ago at test drive, rruck was left in Drive when I first got in it, wouldnt start. Dealer put slightly smaller BMW battery (bmw dealer) in to let me test drive. ASS light on.
2. I bought it as is.
3. Immediately ordered/installed tazer light to remember ASS off.
4. Removed aux bty ground cable (taped it, zip tied out of way)
5. Removed whatever fuse utube said to disable ESS (42?)
6. Drove it a few miles a few days, no issues.
7. Parked it and left on a trip. Loaned it to buddy and it wont start (i parked it in front of my Ring flood liggr, can see what he is trying and talk him thru it. Wouldnt remote start, button start or jumpstart.

I assume a parasitic drain, order the 850cc H7 walmart battery to install once home. I will check my ground, my connections.

I did test the winch briefly, plugging in remote, testing it for 1sec and unplugging the remote. Maybe it kept some extra draw? I plan on installing a physical disonnect switch to the winch next week once home.

What else am I missing? Its a 2020 with 147k miles, lots of carfax info: new motor 143k, new trans 146k, new battery 147k in May. Coincidence or timing?

New to Jeeps but can watch a utube video and figure most things out.

Is there an aftermarket alarm/tracking system installed by a dealership? I just went through a similar issue after leaving the country for 90 days and the battery draining while I was gone. Most systems have battery protection that shuts everything off once the voltage drops to a certain point, but many aftermarket systems the dealerships put on are wired directly to the battery.

What's the voltage at the battery? Are there any codes?

Great idea, yes, I recall the sales guy mentioning that the dealer installed something! I declined all dealer add ons to include that but recall it was left on the car. I will find it and remove it! Thanks

Away on travel, will check voltage at bty, once started with new bty (to confirm alternator charging) and check for errors.

Got home. Bty at 11 volts (my meter only does.whole.numbers). No codes, staryed clicked nit cranked but fired up with small jump pack. Dash says charging 14.3 and meter agrees.

Winch wired direct.with no manual disconnect. I am guessing that was the drain,.disconmected winch until switched disconnect.arrives. topped off new big bty but charged "old" to use as a test this week.

Glad it was an easy fix!

Keep an eye on it. I was almost going to say the ASS malfunctioned on you after doing the aux delete. If it isn’t set up to be full time off when you delete it can cause issues.

So, I found a winch power disconnect in my garage from prior project and added it. Measured my bty, down to 11 again, figured thats what it is, will just replace it with the one I have ready. But took a drive (it started) and instead of 14.3v like this morning (when the bty as 12v fresh off charging), the dash display showed 12.7 and every now and then 13.7 but no higher. I would have assumed 14.3 again as the battery is lower (11v) than it was this morning?

Would adding this disconnect have any variable to this? I hooked ground of winch to where the prior factory ASS aux battery was and then winch + to the switch, switch is off and other end of switch to pos.

Only difference to how it was wired before:
- added switch
- I didnt take a photo but memory was that the winch ground was on the ground terminal with the IBS. Forum posts show some doing what I did and others showing top of IBS.

It drove just fine, maybe I am overthinking it.

Ok, so got home after letting it sit for a week. Fired right up. Cool. Kept it running, took off freedom panels and did 5min of stuff and decided to turn it off as it was going to be 30 more minutes of stuff before taking it for a drive.

No start. Battery 12v, have my 110v new battery charger/jump starter on it, nothing. Remove winch wiring all together. Nothing. Swap battery to the new H7. Nothing.

Ordered qty =2 of the "Z-fuse array". I will remove and test mine tomorrow (watched the video), can that be a no-crank issue?

Was thinking brake/on/off switch but in reading, doesnt appear to be the issue. I get rear brake lights when tapping on the pedal but with ign in "run" I cant get the jeep out of park.

Super frustrated at this point, hoping for some ideas. With aux deleted (42 fuse pulled, aux ground removed from term and taped), would Jeep not crank if I blew the z-fuse (F3?). I have two $20 ones on order but they dont arrive until Weds. I can buy a dorman for $69 tomorrow.... Guess I need to remove it and test it.

Check the continuity. That way to you know for sure if it's that or not.
