For clarification: Is this an injection, injector pump style part on top of the engine between the cylinder heads or something bolted on elsewhere on the vehicle?

How major of a repair is this?
From my google search. The fuel pump is on the front of the engine, between the V. Looks like it will take a whole day, maybe 1.5 days to replace it.

When my first one was replaced it was done in less than 8 hours. Mine was the first one their tech had ever done. Been running fine since. But I worry!

Thanks for your research, Rusty!

I suspected this was gonna be ugly.

You would think these manufacturers would get their crap together. If memory serves me right, awhile back BMW had fuel pump issues on their inline 6-cylinder, and more recently didn’t the RAM Cummins have them, too?

8-hours of shop time is serious money.

With the recall. You don't know what else they might do or look at, at the moment. That will add time to it.

Hopefully, we’ll get one of those expensive fuel filters out of this mess. I think they’re on the 20k service interval.

Yeah, Ram used the CP4 for 2019 and 2020 years.

"Late in 2020, Ram made a change from the asymmetrical cam CP4.2 to a new symmetrical CP4.2."

August 2020. I’m in.

Anything I should be doing in the meantime to reduce the risk before the 2Q 2023 repair?

Providing that it didn’t happen out in the boondocks, I’d actually prefer an earlier demise to avoid the long line and wait.

Hot Shots EDT with cetane booster? Been using it ever since my first one dumped on me. No issues yet! 🤞
