There's a FCA dealer tech on the forum who has been installing the new updated pumps for about three weeks now. He's only authorized to work on the vehicles that are sitting in the shop with a failed CP4 pump.

I’ve got no problem with that. If anything, this issue has taught me or reminded me to consolidate my trips over the last year. I’m about 2 weeks from owning mine for 2 years. I’ve taken 2 trips where I burned about 5,000 miles and I have about 24300 on the odometer. It definitely has the least frivolous miles I’ve ever driven on a vehicle which again I’m OK with.

hell naw! I bought mine to drive it and use it for what it purchased for, lots of off-road and my fuel pump blew 2 months ago LOL.
After I had it for about 16 months and 32k miles. Never bought a gun I won’t shoot, would never buy a vehicle I won’t use.
It sucks having it sit at the dealer but the fun I’ve had was worth it.

Oh I definitely agree. My problem is now that I work way too much.

One thing I’m kind of interested to find out with that little handout that they’re supposed to give us on the dash is what it’s gonna say about the fuel. There’s commentary in the write up where it mentions B5 fuel, which will be a little bit of a problem since most pumps are B20. it’ll be interesting. We’ll just have to wait and see.

LOL. Not sure what that means, I just want my truck back so I can go places. Out in the desert I can’t really go anywhere without it.

Going through the TSB briefly. The replacement pump looks to be another CP4.

LOL I’m just messing.

Dude, we’re both in Vegas. What shop has your truck? My preferred dealer sent me a text today about scheduling for the Z96 recall, not sure if that is them reaching out to get me in the door or them reaching out to get it done.

The dealer tech said the new pumps are made from 'hardened parts'. Otherwise, he doesn't have any other information. There are no software updates, though. It's simply a bolt-on part.

CSSMZ461AA - recall part number
68631088AA - warranty replacement part number

According to the tech, both are identical parts.

So, they are replacing a pump that can implode it when failed, to a pump with hardened internals that will just wears down over times if the pistons does rotated.
