I love it... the plaintiffs get $4k each for their troubles. Everyone else gets an extended warranty or reimbursed for their $200 stabilizer they went out and bought on their own....
And the attorneys get $3.9M dollars
Yet another example of one of the fundamental truths of life according to my lawyer- the only ones who ever "win" in a class action suit are the attorneys.I love it... the plaintiffs get $4k each for their troubles. Everyone else gets an extended warranty or reimbursed for their $200 stabilizer they went out and bought on their own....
And the attorneys get $3.9M dollars
Good point... I was thinking they might reimburse people who went and bought aftermarket to try and fix. Even then.... $3.9 MILLION vs a few hundred bucks
Yeah, they're not paying for anything over and above Mopar.Good point... I was thinking they might reimburse people who went and bought aftermarket to try and fix. Even then.... $3.9 MILLION vs a few hundred bucks
I can sort of see needing to limit the reimbursements because otherwise you'd have people who did a massive upgrade or modification making claims costing hundreds.Yeah, they're not paying for anything over and above Mopar.
That warranty would be nice though.
Agreed. It will be very few who went through the specific chain of events in order to have their cheap stabilizer replaced under warranty.Keep in mind, this settlement is just a gesture by FCA to close it out. They have not been found to have, or agreed to have, been at fault in any way. That means there's no guarantees of reimbursement if you don't fall within their specific guidelines. Also expect to jump through some hoops to get anything.
I honestly wouldn't bank on this for anything until it's actually settled and the requirements are made known.
That's it, pretty sad but truth.First let me say that I am all for holding manufacturers accountable and also making sure folks using their products don't get hurt. That being said, I find it interesting in these types of legal actions that the real "winners" always seem to be the law firms who cash in due to the class action(s). They get the big chunk of money and the individual plaintiffs often see very little compensation in the end.
Lol I did post a thread about this earlier but it looks like it got deleted for some reason.I will delete if already posted.
