I’m confused, I figured the 2 door would have less space because there’s no truck bed or choice for a storage bin underneath the backseat
When I bought my Gladiator, it wasn't competing against other mid sized pickup trucks. Once I figured out how much "truck capability" it was competing against a combination of a 2 door wrangler sport and a used full sized pickup.

I liked my JLU but I needed a truck bed and didn’t want to give up the Jeep aspect, also rides better than my JLU did so it’s a win win for me

I feel it. My gladiator storage is either in the bed in the weather or under a crappy non sealing tonneau cover i would spend 1500$ on. OR a 4500$ camper shell......

Jeep needs to make a dang JLU thats a 2 door! with a drop tailgate.
no idea where you're getting a $1500 tonneau that doesn't seal well. Mine was $285 for a soft folding and not a drop of rain gets in. It's not a perfect seal, as i learned doing some exceptionally dusty trails, but good enough that I wont be replacing it.

I had a 2 door, traded for a JKUR 4 door when my first was born. Traded that for a Gladiator when my second was born. The 2 door is fairly spacious if it's just 2 people, especially with a cargo basket. The 4 door might have been fine too with a cargo basket, but I love having the bed for weirdly large objects the kids like (bikes), and the kids like riding around in the back when we're at the campground.

The pros of a 2 door is that 35s are as big of a tire as they need, and a modest 2" lift is all that's needed. But, I will say the short wheelbase vs. long wheelbase issues have left me with liking a long wheelbase. The 2dr gets vertical so much easier, which makes some obstacles actually dangerous. Further, it makes wheeling some obstacles a bit more challenging because you're looking at the sky a bit more than you are the trail. I've also noticed that the gladiator is just more comfortable on the trail days- more stable on the freeway, and less "ocean in rough waves" on the whooped out parts of the desert. Through Johnson Valley (The Hammers), a 2 door is pure torture.

After extensive experience with both, I wouldn't even say one is "better" offroad than the other. Sometimes one has a leg up, whereas other times the other is better. Depends on the trail and day. Part of me wishes I had both just to enjoy both experiences.

Nothing wrong with this. If you don't need 4 doors and a bed, the 2dr Wrangler is the way to go. There's something almost perfect about it.

Now if you DO need 4 doors? I know I'll get some hate, but I think the JLU just looks wrong. Somehow the JT fixes the disproportion by dropping down to bed height instead of a super long rectangle.

In short, switching from JT to JL, I get it. Switching from JT to JLU (I'm looking at you Brad @ Trailrecon), I don't get it.

After having the Gladiator, it does make me want a 2dr Wrangler. I never owned a Jeep prior to this. My issue is that I like having a truck, especially midsize and using as a daily driver. It would be nice to have a 2dr Wrangler that always has the top/doors off and able to leave parked in the garage for when rain is in the forecast (so basically all summer).

They all have their haters and their fans. I couldn’t decide what I liked best. So JT, JLU and TJ it was ?

Hello my name is Brian and I have an addiction…

I feel you I had an unlimited JL for 14 years and a 2 door JL the last 7 years after buying the gladiator, really don’t think I will ever go back to a JL but will always be a fan of them think the gladiator just suits me better I like the feel and drive of a truck better. Sharp looking wrangler though.

My goals are similar. Though I also want an old military Willys....
