So I decided to go to the Killington Jeep jamboree for the second time. This year I decided to try a harder trail called Vertigo. No problem until this happened….
Slid into a rut and a tree gave me a little love tap.
Got stuck between two trees and bent up my front plate holder.
Last but not least, I bounced off a boulder so hard I bashed in my oil pan skid and broke the weld!
Could have been worse I suppose?
Funny thing is I can’t wait to go to the next jamboree.

A good PDR guy can get rid of that dent. Not sure where in CT you are, but I use Mike at www.onsitepdr.com. He does northwest / northcentral CT. I'm really picky, and I can say that Mike is really good.

As far as the broken weld, it looks like a poorly executed welded joint.

I’m in Nothwest Ct too, Hartland. Thanks for the recommendation. I have another jamboree in September and I might wait until I get back from that one just in case I do more damage.
I’m not much of a welder but I have the equipment to fix the skid. I might give it a try?? Maybe send the picks to rock hard? I don’t think they will do anything about it, but can’t hurt.

I’m pretty sure It was the last boulder I was going over. I was in a hurry because it was the end of the trail. Hit so hard it felt like my fillings got knocked out.
That’s hard.

Here come the jokes. I give it…5 minutes.

Do you think that a bed side rock rail would have spared you from the tree dent?

No rock rail would have saved the bed side. Very off camber drop it an offensive tree waiting to trap the long wheel based rigs. To the OP you did amazing with that rig on Vertigo!! Brett (trail guide)

Thanks for the compliment and thanks for guiding us through the trail! Hope to see you at another Jeep jam. I had a great time. Any chance you’re going to Maine this year?
BTW. After the tree hit me, my wife suggested that we trade in for a JL. I suggested we bob the JT and still have the max tow options and wheel base with a shorter body. Maybe a winter a project in the works??!
