Since I have been looking for a Master gear install kit for the M220 and M210 axles this morning.
I happened to open a tab on lift kits for the JT..... WTF a unnamed company's lift kit is over $1000.°° per .5 inches of lift as in over $5000.°° for a 2.5 in lift. ? ?‍♂ For that much they better be sending a pit crew, tools, delivery and to install it at my choice location.
This kit wasn't the only grossly over priced one there is more than a few (Company's) with them. The "kit" contains 2 replacement coil springs, fixed lower control arms, 2 spring spacers, swaybar end links and shocks not shocks not coilover shocks. Not remote or bypass shocks. Oh don't try telling me it's for a warranty and customer service and support, all of us know how that is in current situation. And in the past... The rear bumper for my XJ is one of those types products (not the current manufacturer) damn good product but not the cost and B.S. I went through to get it. That could be a long thread on it's own. The company that made it went out of business.

I can name more than a few companies that don't rip off customers and have great customer service, support. Plus are knowledgeable on the products they make, sell and a few have even directed me to a competitor's product as better for my use. Let alone not robbing their customers.

I understand there is R&D for it but damn. If I piss off anyone or sponsors here I can deal with being banned. But you need to go look in the mirror! Anyone one here that's paid for this might need to do the same too. Now if you're being sponsors by them okay I can see "you pedaling" it.
Otherwise we need to start calling this stuff out. Much of this is why I dropped off of the forums, Jeep clubs and rest in years past.

With pricing like that it makes the MOPAR kit down right cheap.

Inflation bro…

In all seriousness there is R&D and ROI for companies I would imagine. There is also supply and demand. People will pay so they’ll charge it. It’s capitalist economics.

I hear you think only answer to inflation right now is to avoid making major unnecessary purchases if possible and hope at some point that things get better. Wanted to sell my house but at these APR’s I’m waiting until they go down again. It took a few years for the economy to get better in 2008 last time it got bad guess we have to wait it out unfortunately

I can understand some of that but as I watched it when the JK came out. A lift from 1-3 Or so a inches was about $100.°° after the 3 inch range it would just to $500.°° to 1000.°° or more to get correct. That was for a 2.5 inch lift, I could understand maybe up to say $2000.°° but damn.
On that I agree on some of the R&D cost part: I bought a early Cascadia solar system for my JT the price has dropped some since.
But really does anyone think a 2.5 inch lift kit of just them parts is worth over 5k if so I've got pacific ocean beach front property here in N. AL for sale.
It just seems to me like P.T. Barham supposedly said : A sucker is born every minute.

As people have noted for - well, since the 1950s, non-essentials, what are considered luxuries or unnecessary nice to have things - they are always higher because typically, normally, those who go after them "can afford them".
Since I started working with cars I've seen options, accessories, that sort of stuff, always way up there in price.
Things are priced based on the typical buyer's ability to pay or what are they willing to pay.
It's figured if you have such a vehicle, you want a lift, you'll pay for it and be happy.
Let's be honest - even of the forum members, how many have lifts and huge tires and NEED them?
Or is it a "that's cool, I want that" or even "that's how they look good, gotta have it".
Most if people were honest and dropped the danged pride thing.

The worst part is the housing market was not organic growth, the biggest scam of the century. Something like 1 in 4 were actual consumer purchases.

A lot more eloquently said than me.

I will agree 100% I bought a house in 1999 for 46 k in 2003 the house was assessed at 76-87k in value the house wasn't worth in no way 76k maybe 50-55k no way 60k or more.

Bumpers are the #1 offender in this category, IMO. And anything made by EVO-- the "quarter pounder" looks like a DIY project from someone on an extreme budget. It's literally a piece of metal press braked 3 times with plates welded on the sides to connect the edges. It probably took more time to turn on the CAD software than it did to design that.

edit- and trailers. I've seen small "overland" trailers sell for $50g's.

edit2- and ARB. $850 for a jack. Good Grief.

Trailers too... What about racks and roof top tents? They become status symbols. Like really dude, you need 6 rotopax, an axe, a shovel, and an ARB refrigerator in your vehicle at all times for the 3 times a year you go to a developed campground and call it overlanding? Ha!

You forgot the traction boards. Clearly you're not cut out for the #overlanding life.

For me its shocks....3000-5000$ for 4 shocks? Get real.

Plus these jeeps are crazy capable with only a minor lift. You really really dont need that 18 arm triple forged heim joint with bypass bump stop shocks if your not on 42's with a bobbed bed.

That's kinda funny you mentioned the Rotopax and other stuff. I never could understand why the #### anyone would spend so much on a 2.5 gallon gas can or on a shovel. I did buy myself a Max-Axe after a deployment, as it has multiple uses replacing a few tools, space in a TJ/LJ is premium let alone on 4wheeler. It's been a used tool that's "paid for itself" the fridge freezer I got has and does the same. As well as you know a fridge in hot climate is very handy. I live in the sticks of sorts, on a drive back from the store milk, ice cream, meat ect can or will melt / spoil.

I'm really glad I started this thread it's probably going to turn into a real S### show too. ?:like::like::LOL:

It is very simple: The Law of Supply and Demand.. this drives pricing of products !
