Armorlite Install Questions

Followed these instructions...

A couple of notes:

• Seats are not Torx - front seat needs to be fully removed and needs E14 to remove; did not have to remove or loosen back seats
• Where the back and front overlap next to center console, its not all covered - only solution I can think of is duct tape to keep things from falling between the seat and console and going under the liner
  
  
  
• The front door wiring needs to be pulled off after you unhook it from the door
• Pay attention to which drain plugs to pull out - you do not remove all of them
• You need a plastic pry bar to get the front liner under the dash in front on center console

Other than that, it seems to fit really well and much thicker than the original carpet. It is a 2 hr install with 1 person if you know what you are doing - if not, takes a little longer and a second person really helps with the back

Did mine today in a 2022. Fortunately had a set of e-sockets. My last gladiator was torx bolts, must be a change to the 22. I could not get the b-pillar to seat on either side. Had to trim the flooring, it was just too thick.
Agree on pry bar for front center console.
Took my son and me about 3 hours, but 1 hr of that was screwing around putting b-pillar plastics back in.
Otherwise, no problems.

I sent a note to Armorlite. If I don't hear back, I plan to use black duct tape to prevent anything from falling between the seat and the center console. Not sure of any other solution.

Although, I didn't take the seats out. Just unbolted and rocked fore and aft as needed.

Just did mine last night. I did it by myself and it took me closer to 5 hours... but an hour of that was going to harbor freight for a set of eTorx sockets....

The directions were definitely unclear on a couple of things and I realized after I got it all put back together that you only need to pull four of the drain plugs... not all of them. Now I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I definitely don't want to take it all apart again to put drain plugs back in. But I also dont want water to get under that flooring because it will never dry out. You guys think it would be much of a problem leaving the drain plugs out under the armor light floor?

I was also surprised that you don't use the fasteners on the sidewalls or rear of front. I still can't get the side pieces all snapped together. U definitely need loctite on the seat bolts.

I didnt re-loctite the seat bolts... You think that'll be okay? There was still quite a bit of the factory goop on them and I tightened the hell out of them.

Minus a couple of nitpicky fitment issues, super happy with it overall!

I am a little concerned though, about the cell phone death crevice between the seats and the center console. Is that where you're talking about applying duct tape?

I am going to add some just to be safe. And yes, its weird the center console gap, but, it matches the original carpet. I didn't believe it, but, I checked after talking to Armorlite.

Huh... that's weird. Especially since that area is the black hole on every vehicle ever made. Thanks for the update!

Did you have to loosen the bolt that holds the factory floor jack in place to get it back in?

I proactively removed the jack so I don't know. I am not putting the lock box back in because it actually gives my great dane significantly more room. I was going to build a platform but, decided to just leave out the box. You should have to remove the jack though because there is no cut to go around it. Overall, I would definitely get this again, just not 1 hr to install unless you are a full time mechanic.

I got the jack back in this morning. The Armorlite is thicker than the carpet so it wont snap back on but I was able to get it back on by loosening the bolt a bit.

Sorry to revive an old thread! I’m in the middle of installing armor lite in my JT. They say to remove the vertical pillars/bolts that attach the stock carpet. But underneath there’s a vertical screw. Should I just install the armorlite on top of the screw?
