Alright, I need some help. I have a bunch of interior layouts swirling in my head and need to pick one. One of the ideas is to have jump seats on both sides of the camper, like a dinette.

I was thinking about a couple CJ5 back seats. Can one of you with a CJ5 or CJ7 measure the back seats, please. I think they are about 36" across, but I'm not sure of the distance from front to back, including the back rest angle.

Also if anyone has a source for nice jump seat benches, post them. I found this picture, but have no idea of the source of the jump seat.

I found some relatively cheap new jeep seats and cushions on eBay and RecPro. Still not sure if they're too big and will leave enough foot room between them. The inside of my camper is 55" across.

Another option if you go the length of the bed is some Land Rover 110 benches. I was thinking about a bed cage and jump seats for my kids and these fit above the wheel well and would be fairly simple to engineer a mount for. Plus they're not expensive at all and are already designed to flip up or down depending how you mount them.

Here's a mock up at scale in the bed. But with the extra height of your cap you could probably raise them up a good bit for a more comfortable seating position.

Great scale mock-up! Do you know the depth of the seats? I’m looking for something close to 18-20”.

Interior video. I need to get a better camera than my iPhone.

So I think they are a little short. 12" for the actual seat pad and 14 3/4" for the overall depth.

Alright, I'ld like to go camping this weekend, but I'm missing a mattress. With my tall top, I can go with about any thickness. The size I need is called an RV mattress 48" x 75". I'm thinking about an 4" RV mattress. Are there cheaper/better options than below?

What do you guys think?

Is it true that memory foam gets stiff at cold temperatures?

I’m still kicking around what mattress for my trailer build. One thing I will not do is skimp out. A good night’s rest when camping is critical for me. Just haven’t found the best option yet.

Update:

I was a bit stressed about putting the camper on the truck, but everything seems to be working well. So far I've put a couple hundred miles on it driving around. No 4 wheeling yet.

It's funny, but I'm getting about 1/2 mile per gallon better fuel economy on the highway. I guess it has better aerodynamics than just the truck bed. Also, there is no wind noise from the top driving 70 mph.

It's also been doing fine driving in the rain. Nothing leaks, except for a few drips inside my back hatchback.

One other note is that the truck's A/C seems to handle the camper with no problem. It might not be the most efficient, but the truck's A/C keeps the camper cool even with the tent up (90 degrees outside, 72 inside). I wonder how much fuel my truck burns running on idle with the A/C on.

I’ve got about a mile of trail to clean up to get to my river bar camp site.

There’s still a lot of small details to fix.

Adding a bungee cord to pull in the tent when closing.
