tried search, no luck

so our 3.0 makes what i'd call a summer night cricket sound under light acceleration that doesn't mimic the engine rpm. Dealer can't duplicate...and i think it's because it only happens under load. I think they sat there and rev'd it to no avail. I'm not new to diesels and can say this sound is not diesel related.
I'd almost guess by the sound its an air leak on the cold side maybe but can't find it.
Anybody else?

Pull your grill and headlights and check your boost on the intercooler.

When I replaced my intercooler tubes with AFE I actually found a pin hole in the rubber elbow. Clearly a nick from assembly or something.

Also can i ask what prompted you to change the tubes?

Did you ever get this figured out? Mine started doing this recently and it’s driving me insane.

is it more of a fludder kind of sound? Under real light loads around 25 mph it sounds like you can hear your turbo vanes adjusting. If you hear a chirp/squeak at shut down or when you feather the throttle it is a bad exhaust actuator - I had mine replaced under warranty. It got progressively worse until I was able to diagnose it myself. Any easy way to rule this out is to see if you can hear it through the exhaust pipe.

No not yet but driving me equally crazy. Just haven’t taken the charge pipes out to check for leaks.

I haven’t heard it through the exhaust. When she pulls in the drive I can hear it from the engine bay but not the exhaust. When driving only hear it from front. It’s annoying that’s for sure. I just need to take the time to check the charge pipes for leaks.

Used to do this on our old PT cruisers and SRT4s all the time. Stock charge pipes would expand and balloon up under boost, and we would get inconsistent numbers. hard pipes with T bolt clamps fixed the issue.

Before you laugh, I made 441whp on 27psi with race gas and methanol injection on my PT Cruiser that ran high 11s through a Dodge caravan automatic transmission as a daily driver. OK, now you can laugh lol
