Recently my there was a theft attempt on my 2021 Rubicon. They opened the hood (That is not protected by alarm), pulled the fuse for the horn and then broke in and started reprogramming the computer to add new key fobs to steal it. For what ever reason they failed and were unable to steal it. My dealer had to reprogram my computer to get it working again. I was thinking about connecting a wireless relay to the jeep that would activate an alarm in my house if the factory alarm goes off. Does anyone know where I could pick up status of the factory alarm such as a wire that goes to 12v once in Alarm mode?

The tazer module allows programming where the hood opening sets the alarm off.

That is your fastest solution.

Second option is to simply do the above plus use the power applied to the horn as input for your "module".

Or park close to WIFI signal and put a motion activated camera (blink) with remote monitoring in the jeep.

Or use a Telguard ARGO camera with cell service (completely wireless) and place this in your back window. This is also motion drive and monitored by an application.

Honestly, Just pick up a good set of Locking Hood latches and a ring security camera.
They picked the door lock to get in, I do t think a cheap hood lock will stop them.

I thought about that but everytime I lock it it will set it off, also if they remove the horn fuse it will not work. Thinking about the tazer, but with a relay I can set my house alarm off so I will hear it for sure

No. the tazer turns hood alarm on. Jeep is locked and if the hood opens while locked the factory alarm goes off. They cant remove the fuse without setting the alarm off.

One other thing is a $25 Apple AirTag hidden somewhere inside.

I was able to track my daughters skis this summer when she flew to Oregon to ski at Mt. Hood.

Years ago, I'm talking like 30 years ago, I installed a car alarm that included a beeper. If the alarm triggered, the beeper went off. it was good for several hundred yards.

Eventually these kinds of alarms stopped being offered. I suspect because they didn't want the liability of someone confronting a criminal in the middle of the night. In other words, they worked TOO WELL.

What kind of alarm do you have? I find this interesting. I wonder if you can use Shelly 1 plus 12v relay that you could program in Home Assistant to trigger your alarm.

Now that I'm thinking about it, something as simple as an Aqara Door Sensor under the hood migrated into home assistant would give you a million options. If you set up your alarm through home assistant it could trigger your alarm, turn on any smart lights, send a text to your phone, sound an alarm, etc...etc...

I have a few water sensors that if my washing machine leaks, or the hot water heater fails, it will send my wife and I a text message, then announce over our Google Home Smart speakers that there is a water leak as that said location. I might order an extra door sensor just for this. Of course this would only work at home.

That’s exactly what I wanna do right now I’m just using a magnetic contact setting off a door alarm in my house but I also am running HomeKit. And could easily adapt. Currently I am just monitoring the good but would love to tie into the alarm so when the alarm goes off I can send a signal.

The other person who had this happen to them was also in Ontario. Theirs was successfully stolen. Glad yours wasn't. Something is going on in ON lately.
Tazer will enable hood alarms.

Certainly a disappointment you have to pay so much money for the tazer when jeep should enable that on a software update

One time months ago the alarm tripped when I opened the hood, but not today when I tested it again. Does anyone else remember the alarm protecting the hood in the past? I did change some settings for light delay and horn chirp on lock, but I don't find a setting for hood alarm. Changed by a software update, perhaps?

My 2021 has and still sets off the alarm when the hood is opened.
I didn’t enable anything.
