Sold on Ebay - $48,000 Salvage Title (Flood)

Saw this one last week and decided to watch it out of morbid curiosity.
I don't think I could've done it.
On the other hand they did save about $13,000 off sticker and nearly $20,000 off of new 23.

Most insurance companies won't touch a flood vehicle.

My beater mini van has a salvage title from a wreck and my insurance was leery of covering it PL & PD.

$13K off sticker, $20K off a 2023, sure. But at the same time you're also buying a vehicle with enough known electrical issues from the factory as is that has been... swimming.

Methinks the cost of tracing down all the issues likely will exceed any savings, let alone the issue with most insurers not being willing to underwrite a policy on a flood branded title.

I believe someone over on the JL site bought a fully submerged JLU. Started documenting the process. Not sure if it ever got finished. I believe the guy was involved in auto electronics so it wasn't a big stretch for him to take it on.

$5000 less than brand new would have cost at Gupton.

I have a friend who bought a water damaged Jetta GLi. He got a DEAL. It was a 1 year old $35k car and he paid $14 for it. He's spent about $5000 dealing with issues. But its still a deal.

This is no deal.

Yup. My car was just over a year old and had about 20,000 miles. It looked pristine, but spent more time on a flatbed than under its own power for months.

Branded titles are a thing for a reason. If someone wants to take on that (likely) lemon, more power to them.

MSRP was 59,600

just purchased one just like this but ours has a few more bells and whistles. MSRP was $64,500. paid about the same and with less miles.

I have to believe this deal won't go through. Even though it say "salvage" for the title in the upper specs, my guess the buyer didn't realize what he was getting. This kind of hiding the title drives me nuts: " ***THIS VEHICLE HAS A NC BRANDED TITLE*** ".

Plus, you get a Mojave with JL Rubicon wheels! Awesome!

I know this dealer, I personally have never delt with them but a buddy of mine has bought a Hummer and Audi from them with salvaged titles , not sure what the issue with the Hummer was but the Audi had flood damage but you couldn't see it and it never gave any trouble. The Hummer on the hand after about 3yrs of driving it started having some issues but it was already older when he bought it from them and it had around 40,000 miles on it. The Audi was like a 2019 model and he just sold it for a little more than he paid for it even with a salvaged title.
