I know there’s countless videos and people speaking of tiks and how you can’t replicate a good sound on a phone. Jeep already said I am running comparable to other gladiators. Any input? I’ve had a slight vibration at idle for a while now.

That sounds about like mine. No vibrations here though.

I used to get a bunch of janky noises until I switched to 91, solved all of it. While they're rated for 87 there's a whole lot of people who report much smoother driving on 91.

That sounds pretty much identical to the 3.6 in my 22 Rubicon now with around 7,800 miles. Mine has been in at the dealer twice in the past couple of months because of check engine lights showing misfires. First code was p0304 in July for random misfires on cylinder 4 and last week the code was p0300 for random misfires on multiple cylinders. When I picked it up last Wednesday my dealer gave me the paperwork from Stellantis that told them not to attempt a repair until their engineers could determine the cause. So far other than the CELs and engine tick, I am not feeling the misfires. On mine, the tick didn’t start until about mid August but I am not feeling any vibration and cannot tell it is misfiring. I live monitor the misfires with an OBD adapter and Jscan and they are spread across all cylinders with 50 or more on any drive from a cold start but less after it gets up to normal operating temps. Fuel type has not made any difference in mine. I’ve run everything from 87 to 91, both ethanol and non. My dealer suggested starting a Star case but as of now I will keep driving it until the light comes back on. If no resolution the next time I will start a Star case.

No check engine lights here. Just what feels like a slightly noticeable misfire on start up. Had it checked last month they said they can’t do anything without a code. Hopefully they have a fix up there sleeve.

Thanks I ordered a kit. I’m I mostly looking for high iron counts? The oil is clean to the eye.
Yeah, Iron count is the key focal for upper valve train wear. Keep in mind you want to see at least a couple of oil analysis showing a downward trend.

From my experience, iron does not start to level off to the universal averages like the report @Lunentucker post shows until around or after 10K miles. So if you run your factory fill until the first usual OLM recommendation at 10K miles and take a sample, it will still have a high iron count. I would recommend two 5K miles oil change and oil analysis for each to see where it trends before making any assumptions on valve train wear.

I have attached a report from my then owned 14 Wrangler with the Pentastar that shows what you do not want to see. First sample shows normal expected factory fill wear materials with second sample showing a expected drop. Third sample then shows the iron climbing back up suggesting a valve train wear issue. I eventually traded this off before getting a fourth sample and never dug any deeper into it for actual root cause.

What lead you to doing the analysis?

What lead you to doing the analysis?
Mostly a OCD thing. I do it to all my vehicles regardless to get a baseline of what my engine health is and where it trends. I also work in Aviation and fluid analysis is a big thing there and is where I picked up the habit.

Many people see no value in it and for most, that is probably fine. Just with these Pentastar engines and their history of valve train issue, it is something I am more prudent on.

Keep in mind that just about all dealership service departmentss will take no action based on any oil or other fluid analysis you bring in. It is more of a data point for your knowledge.

Edit: Attached for reference is samples from my 2020 and 2021 Gladiator. Just sent off my first for my 2022 Gladiator and pending results for it.

People Work?
Same here. it's not actionable at the dealer or warranty level, as all they're interested in is whether it's still running or not. But I look at it like a urine test or blood test for a car, and if this employee keeps showing signs of being a problem down the road, then they're going to be someone else's problem and not mine.
