The other thing is like are you really gonna feel comfortable wheeling something 75k ? Pin striping it etc… id rather score it used with 75k on the odometer lol then spend the rest on tasty mods.

Im curious why your comparing a diesel glad with the tundra? to me they are different class of trucks. Does a 3.6 not work for you?
Not necessarily comparing, but had a diesel gladiator that got totaled and ended up in a Tundra after. Thinking about making the switch back and pointing out the price increase and that they cost about the same.

No but it has 450hp 510tq , 14” of travel, 3”remote res shocks, a frame from a 250, 9.5” rear, wayyyy better seats that are cooled also.

the tundra is hideous

way too wide for trails tho i get it. But dude 75 for muh roof and doors and a anemic 3.6. I just dont know anymore… ive owned jeeps for 20+ years. Not really seeing the brand develop the way most enthusiasts would like to see it. Good luck whatever ya do.
75k is for the diesel.Tundra has 437 hp and 583lb.-ft. of torque at 2,400 rpm with cooled seats etc and is on the new Land cruiser frame.

I just don’t understand why the diesel gladiators keep selling. I get it. They have great torque. But they seem to have nothing but issues constantly, at least from what I see on the forum. And they cost so much more. The 3.6 is no doubt under powered, but at least they start without needing def, and don’t need block heaters, and don’t bottom out, and have better cargo capacity as they’re lighter. I just don’t get the reason to stick with this particular diesel. It’s clearly not a great setup.

Yeah, that’s how I feel about taking the Tundra on trails. Already got a few pin stripes and it didn’t feel great while they were occurring. ?

Failed to mention its a hybrid system with added complexity.
Truth. And Nichol plated hybrid batteries instead of lithium and first model year of a remake. Already creaking and rattling.

Paid $37,100 out the door for mine,2020 Max Tow base sport. 5 weeks ago when I was at the dealership getting my Battery replaced they offered me 39,000 for mine. I said no. Then they came back and offered $41,000. Mine had 56,120 miles on it at the time. Just got a call from the same dealership Wednesday of last week wanting to still buy it for $41,000. I've thought about it a few times, I've almost got mine paid off. At $41,000 I'd almost break even with the lift, tires, bumpers, winch and wheels I've added. Only hesitation is they ain't making Gators no more right now. I like the color

Shhh, you don't want to upset the diesel brigade any more than they already are. In all seriousness, there are probably lots of people who buy a diesel for light duty use and never have a problem. They obviously run very hot, but it's probably too early to tell how that will affect the longevity. Browsing forums always makes things look worse than they are, but I wouldn't touch the diesel until they get the prevalent issues corrected either. Especially not for 75k.

Jeep Wranglers and JTs are OVER PRICED. I Paid 60k after taxes for my Mojave. Great options BUT I could of got a chevy loaded out with much more bed, better driver, and better mpg probably. Tundra and Ford as well...BUT...i wanted a gladiator. Smart buy isn't jeep, but sometimes you want what you want.

The wrangler and gladiator will holds in value in 10yrs+ better than a Chevy, Ford or Tundra. Maybe not a smart buy if you looking for comfort but as far as value for your dollar the Jeeps going loose less value.

I disagree. According to KBB Tundra is 1st, Gladiator is a 10th. I suspect if you say Wrangler, that might have more value.

I don't care what that KBB says. If you look at actual 10yr value over history a wrangler sells better than most any other vehicle in it's class. Not enough time had gone buy to say what the value of a Gladiator is but based on what they are offering to buy them back at it matches right up with a wrangler.

I hope that is the case and I am also betting on that we will have values like the wrangler. But until we get more years and metrics we wont know. I suspect the supply chain issues calm down, we wont have normal metrics for quite some time.

Tundra though has a great resale value much like the wrangler due to its love of the brand and the quality of the vehicle (perceived or not).

One reason I plan to keep mine. Replace the motor if it ever goes out and I’ll still be in the green. My 3.6l rubi gladiator has basically every option available. Msrp back in 2020 was just north of 58k—afraid to even check now.
I tell myself the same thing. The irresponsible side of me says to refi the truck for a V8 conversion should I ever need a new motor.
