For those of you that have used a DIY bed liner on your Jeeps (or anything else)

Im wondering how people are prepping bare metal for a bed liner...Did you lay down a primer? Was it an acid etch primer, 2k primer, etc? How have things held up?

I raptor lined the entire tub of my jku. I believe their instructions said to lightly scuff the paint just to get the shine off which is what I did. It held up great for years

Edit. Just reread your post saying bare metal so this may not help you. I would think bare metal should be primed.

Ive done it several times over paint...It seems as though so many of the manufacturers of aftermarket parts are now sending as bare metal. This is what Im dealing with now

I applied Lizard Skin to the floor of my truck. The instructions said to scuff the paint with a wire wheel and wipe down with acetone. It has held up great after two years.
