DIY bed drawers? Or buy?

I’ve been thinking of doing a diy bed system for my gladiator. I don’t want to pay $1500. I am a woodworker so I can do it myself relatively cheaply. I know wood isn’t the best choice but I have a roll up cover on the bed and I think it’s plenty dry not to cause issues. Are there less expensive options for buying? Or does anyone have experience doing it themselves? I have a rtt and bed rack so it would be nice to have easier bed access and storage when camping/overlanding.

You would need to find a way to completely waterproof the drawers and frame work.

Being under a tonneau is NOT going to keep the moisture out. With just the trapped humidity and the heat generated under the tonneau you will have rot and mildew in no time at all.

I was planning on using a marine wood finish. I’m not entirely sure it’s enough, but I know it would hold up for quite a long time.
