I wanted to give a quick review of Ironman 4x4. I purchased a brand new in box (I broke the seal) XTR-143 270 degree awning. Yes, I bought it from a person who bought it and then sold their truck before ever installing. But it WAS NOT opened. Zero miles. It has seen the outdoors once, yesterday, when I installed it on my truck. I have not driven the truck except for out of the garage to open the awning and back in the garage... Which I have done exactly once....

TLDR: Its new, plastic unsealed by me, never driven... Expanded once.

I go to close the PVC cover around the awning... the zipper comes unthreaded... Not a broken zipper. Just a poor job threading. I'm like, no big deal. They got people in the US I can chat with... when I ask about it, they send me a copy of the warranty which says it is only under warranty for the original buyer... I let them know that I am the first one to open it... No joy... But hey, they did take the time to highlight the section in the warranty for me...

I'm not happy but I figure, ok... I ask about how much it is to get a new PVC cover. They won't sell me one.

TLDR: Ironman 4x4 sold a poorly built product and the only remedy is to purchase another one....

I'm not saying all of their products are bad. I'm saying this one is bad. The one I bought. And I'm saying that Ironman 4x4 is NOT a company that will stand behind the products they sell. I would love for them to fix this and prove me wrong.

are you talking about a removable pvc/fabric bag cover thing you use to store/protect the canopy? And the zipper is messed on on the bag?

If you get no love, go find a auto upholstery shop and have them resew the zipper and for laughs mail ironman the invoice see if it gets paid.

Yeah, that's exactly the part I'm talking about. And the plan is to see who can do some heavy duty sewing for me.

And I don't like badmouthing small companies. I want nothing more than to support them. That being said, I wish I had found a thread like this when I was researching...

I tend to agree. We had an awning from them that had an issue at one point within warranty. It was still usable, but should have been fixed. They agreed to replace it, but never did, and stopped responding to emails. Eventually, I wanted to upgrade the awning anyway, and sold it super cheap, with the buyer aware of the problem. It’s not in a landfill, which I like, but I won’t buy more products from them. I couldn’t be happier with our OVS awning for what it’s worth. Great customer service as well. I’m sorry you are dealing with this.

I bought a water tank from them for my camping set up. Haven't used it yet. Just took it out of the box to look at it. I hope I don't have any problems with it.
I will say it wasn't in stock I pre-ordered it and it seemed like it took forever to get.
Now on the other hand @Northridge4x4 bought an awning from them and was delivered early. It was also a black Friday sale and in stock.

I think the products are fine in general. But my impression is that they’re small and their customer service is imperfect.

So how’s the awning? Does it work?
Feel for you, but you did buy used, where you assume any issues with the product are yours. I would think that zipper is probably the easiest thing to fix on that product, so you’re lucky there.

I get what your saying and acknowledge. To be fair, I didn’t buy ‘used’. It was never used. It was new in box. I opened the box and the plastic.

The awning seems fine. But now I need to take it off the truck and pay someone else to fox what is a manufacturing issue.

I have worked with many companies who would stand behind their product and for the sake of getting and keeping a customer happy for now and for future purchases, take care of them.

Ironman 4x4’s answer.. ‘peace out bra… best of luck in the future’

I saw comments from Feb 2023, and I wanted to toss in my latest results with Ironman 4x4.
If you want to cut to the chase: don't use them. Why?
I bought the URSA 1300 RTT for my 2020 Gladiator. It arrived, and it was well packaged. However, first strike was no instructions were included with the tent. NONE. I had to download them...really? You're paying a premium for a RTT, and you can't include the instructions???

I took it out for it's maiden voyage. There are a couple issues with the tent...mostly design flaws. The lights inside are USB driven, and the plug only comes about halfway to the door. That's annoying. The lights under the tent are on a separate plug...so now you have to have 2 separate USB power sources. That's annoying.

Upside, they have a nice little pocket right inside the door for your awning poles! But unless you notice it or see it on YouTube while looking for install instructions (remember above?), you wouldn't notice it :(

The mattress is ok. I have a bad lower back, and I need to change this mattress. It's not thick enough, and you can feel the hinge of the tent below you. That's strike 2.

But the customer service sucks. Why? So, again, without instructions, I learned that there was a pole that gets wedged up along the roof to help "arch" the roofline and prevent water accumulation. It's great! BUT...I was a dumbass and forgot it when I shut the tent up. That was MY FAULT. I get that. BUT...

I reached out to the company to see about getting a replacement pole AT MY COST. I wasn't trying to get anything free. I WAS PAYING FOR IT. First I called and left a VM. No response within 24 hours. I then used their contact form, and left my request. Took over 24 hours and they finally sent me a response from "Bubba" (I shit you not). Bubba sent me a diagram of the tent, and asked me if I needed part #8, which was the tent pole I needed. I said yes! He said he would send me an invoice and then get it shipped out.

24 hours...and I finally got the invoice. I paid it. Then 24 hours...48 hours...nothing...

After 3 days, I reached out to them, and they said "oops, our bad, we moved our warehouse blah blah blah". They sent me the tracking number the next day. So we are almost at a week of delay for a freaking pole.

The pole arrived via FedEx, and it was MAULED. It was bent. I took pictures. I immediately sent another email via customer service and said I had pics. They replied (the next day) and requested the pics. I sent them how it showed up, and after I opened the pkg. They said they would send me a replacement immediately.

Again, 24 hours to get an invoice...then about 2 more days to get a tracking number (which I got this morning). And it just indicates they printed the shipping label.

What a crock of crap. I have heard other horror stories on their suspension products, so now I am very leery of getting anything else from them.
