My coverking headliner came today and thus far, love it. Sound deadened the entire cap. Went from 70-72 decibels to 65 @ 70 mph.

I only see 2 pictures of the sound deadener. Any pictures of the finished product?

I’ll get some better pics but here’s a couple. It really gives the interior a more finished look, the stereo sounds better and wind noise is reduced from the top of the freedom panels. It wasn’t a perfect fit after the sound dampener was added, but it’s pretty close. I’m going to pull the entire interior out and sound dampen the floor and doors.

Should make a huge difference in road noise and make business trips with colleagues a bit quieter.

None of your business.
Interesting results. Thats a significant improvement.

Side note. As long as the predominant scent when opening my doors remains the off-gassing of poly or vinyl ester resin from the composite top, I could live with that look and be satisfied. I might still have my wife throw some shag carpet or something equally classy over it, just to try and keep up the refined pretense.

Posted before seeing your pic. It does look impressively well done. I might say even better than shag.

I’ll retest today but based on drive #1 it’s a big improvement, no more echo chamber off the hardtop. They say 2-3 decibels down with just the headliner so I think the sound dampener made the difference. Took 5-6 hours to do everything.

One other thing. I did have almost full coverage of the sound dampener on the freedom panels too. That pic wasn’t the finished coverage. I figured if I’m taking the time to do it might as well do it right!

Very nice! I am looking to do the exact same thing with my Rubicon. I personally don't have any issues with having a conversation at 70mph speeds, but i do like the look and might as well install the sound deadening material when I do the install.

As a side note, I do have issues with the hands free calls where the people that I'm talking to say that they hear some major wind noise while on the phone. I think there are other issues at play, but i want to test the difference after the headliner install to see how it might affect it.

Very nice looking results. Thanks for specifically measuring and noting the decibel difference. I've always been curious about that and haven't come across anyone post an actual before/after measure.

I always have to scream at my kids but I do feel like I have to scream louder at them in the JT than I did in my WK2

Not to steal thunder but I will echo the OP's findings. I did the same thing about 2 weeks ago and the results are perfect. I wish this was a factory option. Here's some pics. Mine was a bit more complicated than than @Mflowers11 only because I had to make things fit with the Rhino Rack Back Bone bits and bobs.

I covered everything although this picture doesn't quite show it. I used painter's tape to make forms to cut the Boom Mat to:

Definitely worth buying the rollers to use to tamp down the sound deadener and the carpet. I used extra 3M VHB tape to get more adhesive coverage than the provided adhesive:

Now the Back Bone complications:

Looks pretty good and the off-gassing smell only lasted a day or two.

Not that you can see the TopLiner once my molle panel and attic were reinstalled:

What did you use to make that attic?

Highly recommend. I went with Hot-Head on my Gladiator and had the MOPAR headliner on my JK. Both make significant difference in the Arizona heat of 100+ degrees for 4 months on a black top. AC runs more efficiently to cool cabin and sound system sounds better too. Great investment for small cost. Both of mine use 3M tape and never have budged for years.
