Proof, while raining which obviously adds to the sound level.

Brief thread hijack:
@RedBearon I figured I throw some pics in for you now that I'm back from the wild.

Old carbon fiber tent poles cut to the correct length to span the back of the Gladiator. 6mm rope to provide a non-stretchy end and to attach the paracord to. Start weaving (there are a lot of YouTube videos on how to weave a net, just have to find the style you like):

I wound up attaching the rear pole to my Rhino Rack Back Bone and the front is tied off to a couple of bolts on top of the roll cage.

Hijack complete....
Looks great! Nice work and thanks for the pics!

I went the same route. Easily the best upgrade I’ve done. Looks great, and reduced road/wind noise much more than expected. My only issue is I used sound deadening too close to the SXM antenna and on a cloudy day near trees or buildings I’ll lose signal.

The hot heads panel is already pretty thick and uses what looks to be heat reflective material and deadening already. The tight clearances would be compromised IMO with additional material. There is no need for deadening material IMO.. it’s purely for heat insulation and to pretty up the interior as I never liked the white panels. I honestly don the think added material will significantly reduce any noise. THe cabin is already pretty darn quite for a Jeep..
Sorry to hijack again from the OP and Coverking. I wish I'd done Coverking before adding a cab-over camper but since I didn't, I had to go with Hotheads which don't require removing the top. I also added 100 mil sound deadening first (kilmat), under the Hotheads. I carefully test fitted before and after the sound deadening material. There's no problem with clearance, the panels fit the same with and without.

As for whether heavy sound deadening additionally helps over just the bare panels, I can't provide any data as I did both at once. But it's hard to make the case that it doesn't help. More mass = more sound barrier.

Great point. Read about that prior but didn’t think about it while doing it. Guess I won’t be getting it in the near future!

I have this in my truck as well and man its amazing. I did not do the sound deadener, but should have. I have a kit here for my wife's JL and I think I'll order some SD for that one before I install. I just put Armorlite in over the weekend and expect that to have made a difference too. I really enjoy the darkened cab.

I relocated my XM antenna over the driver sunshade (due to Alu-Cab blocking signal). Then I installed foil-backed sound deadening right on top of the relocated antenna, doh. Once I realized what I'd done, I removed the interior panel (Hothead) with no real difficulty, peeled off the foil backer on the sound deadening. Then peeled the foil radiant barrier on the Hothead panel off too (Hotheads leaves a spot with no foil for the stock antenna location, so no need for this unless you've relocated). Basically it's no big deal, just a little extra work

I've had the Coverking headliner in for almost 2 years now and it has helped not only with sound but also with temperature control in the cab. Also noticed that my music sounded better with the headliner installed. I agree with the OP that the directions need some work. Extremely thankful for You-tube in supplementing the directions.

Jeep Gladiator Coverking headliner installed with sound deadening material. Lowered sound decibels in cabin significantly Jeep roof 2

Those coverking liners are nice. I tried to order one for my Gator but they don't ship to Canada. I was thinking of trying to get it shipped to the nearest American business in Montana and road tripping there to pick it up lol

My coverking headliner came today and thus far, love it. Sound deadened the entire cap. Went from 70-72 decibels to 65 @ 70 mph.

The sound deadener comes with the Headliner? Or are we talking about two different products? I'd like to do this so I just need clarification.

Thanks,

Mac

today was my first real day of having both the front and rear with the sound deadener and the closed cell mat and cover king headliner. yep, she's quieter for sure. i also had added in sound deadener on the floor and Armorlite flooring.

my sirius xm radio does drop out more now, but I had already figured that was going to happen. i'll be on the hunt to try to figure out where I want to add my replacement antenna on the exterior of the jeep. if i can come up with a quick disconnect, then I'll put in on the roof. if that is not an option then it will probably be going on the front cowl.

was it worth it? in my opinion it was. i use my vehicle for work and trying to talk on the phone hands free was a pain in the ass. if it was raining, that was about useless to use. radio for sure sounds much better and you can have a pretty good conversation with someone else inside the vehicle. yes, i went above and beyond with the closed cell mat and the sound deadener. they are two totally different products that work better in conjunction with each other than just one stand alone product.

I will someday take on the four doors to further my attempt to get it even quieter.

I hear you on the calls for business, that’s exactly why I am doing it. Cover a multi state territory, I love my gladiator, but I need to be able to work from it.

I believe someone else in this thread said that they relocated the XM antenna by the sunvisor are basically right up in front. I’d look into that before you put anything on the exterior, might be a little bit more seamless.

The armor light looks really good. Not sure if I wanna spend 700 on it. However, I did look into the deadener then a foam layer and the mat. I think is what you did. Driving for three hours today the only wind noise I had was from the upper left corner of the front door. I’m also looking into a weather sound strip for the doors that would look OEM and be fine with the doors off as well.

Once the floors are done, and I’ve added the deadener to the doors with a little additional weatherstrip and I might just be able to challenge my wife’s range rover for a road noise. OK maybe not!!

if you can attain Range Rover quietness then I'll drive up to see you and let you do your magic ..haha.

yep I've looked at those antennas by the sun visor, but my freedom tops are covered in sound deadener as well and I don't think that is the answer for me. I've seen people who have relocated their antenna outside of vehicle. it's not that big of deal I don't think.

Yeah, actually you’re probably right. Mine is covering that part as well. Outside the jeep it goes…
