Hi folks,

I have the Bridgestone all-season 255x70x18 tires (32") that came stock on my Overland. The tires are fine for street driving; however I'd like a slightly larger tire with much more aggressive tread. It seems the problem is the 18" rim size. I don't want to modify the suspension or anything; it seems a 33" fits with no mods. I'm thinking 275x70x18 as that is slightly more than a 33" tire and happens to be what comes on my Ford Super Duty; the thing is I cannot find this in a C-load range tire. I don't want the harsh ride of a 10-ply, load range E tire. I'm contemplating a BFG KO2 or KM3. I've had both in the past on other vehicles. The KO2 is certainly the better all-around tire. I'd love a nice aggressive mud tire that isn't too loud or too fast wearing on the street, but this Jeep will get driven in the snow in the winter. I also intend to use it on non-damaging off-road trails; the stock all seasons won't get it done.

Without changing wheels....You're kind of stuck with a 10 ply rated tire. The only other option out there is a 285/65R18 Goodyear Wrangler Dura Trac, but it is a bit shorter in overall height. There's jut not a lot of options in the things you are asking for.

I know it may sound cost prohibitive, but the best way to get into a C range tire is to go to 17".

I am happy to help and answer any questions. Sending a DM your way.

I seem to recall that I could have gotten 33s in the General tires I bought for my Overland. I opted for the same 32.2" size, but the "33s" that come on Rubicon are actually 32.8"
So they are only .6" larger than what I run.
I love the General tires I'm running - great Iowa winter tires.

Thanks. That's kind of what I suspected. I've been cruising the ebay Rubicon take-off section as well, but then you need to buy a set of TPMS sensors. The advantage of the 17's is that I could run true mud tires in the summer and then run the 18's in the winter. I'll mull it over.

I am going to go through this next year - the dura tracs come in the size/load you want and there are a few options in the stock size. I like my 18 inch overland wheels and would like to keep them just put a slightly taller/wider and much more aggressive tire on. Let me know what you go with - i loved my cooper st maxx and mickey thompson baja boss at's but i think all e rated in 18"

Another thing to look at, is the price difference between the same tire (size/model) in a 18 vs 17 inch rim. For my Baja Boss 35" tires, I was looking at close to $100 more per tire for the 18's, thus effectively getting my spare for free...

I put 275/70R/18 KO2's on my Overland and it changed the look of the vehicle totally.

I didn’t stay with the Overland style rim that was originally on my 80th AE, but I did stick with an 18 inch size.
I went with 295/70R18 (34x11.5). These fit well with nothing more than a 1.5” level on the front.

Several Overland owners on this forum, myself included, have put 295/70R18 Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLTs on the stock Overland wheel. Comes out to about a 34" tire. Looks great and doesn't drive too stiff for a load range E tire. Those tires are also within the approved rim width for the stock Overland wheel. I searched high and low for something that would work on the Overland wheel in a load range C but was unsuccessful.

I went with 285/70 18 (essentially a 34 X 11.50) on an 18 X 8" wheel (+30). Fits perfectly!
