My truck was hesitating between 3 and 4th gear and then it threw the P0733 code. They said I need a new transmission and that they are on backorder. It has been two weeks now. Any suggestions on how to get my hands on a transmission for the Jeep?

There is a handful of others here waiting on a transmission with one having a August ETA given.

I think you are just going to have to wait your turn like everybody else.

You can send a private message to @JeepCares and ask for assistance. Sometimes they can be helpful.

Isn’t this insane. I wonder if they are the same used for the wranglers as well.

It is the same.

It is my understanding they also will allocate back order parts by distribution region spreading them out rather than nationally first come first serve. So if you see somebody else getting their part before you that had their problem after you, that is usually why.

Yeah, there are people waiting for transmission pans for the 4xe.
I'm about to join that list as ours has started leaking AGAIN.
The supply issues haven't subsided fully.

I would try asking other parts departments. Last year another member up in Edmonton?? needed a transmission and was told he was months out waiting.

I then was given the green light by my insurance company to order my transmission, after the guy up in Edmonton was told he’d have to wait, and my parts department found one for me in 2 minutes and ordered it!

I reached out to the Edmonton member for his details and contacted my parts department that found mine and they told me there was two transmissions in Canada. One was on hold in Kelowna, BC and the other one was available on the shelf at a Toronto dealership.

I called and confirmed at both places and told the guy in Edmonton to act fast and call the Toronto dealership. He then confirmed it was there and called his dealership (who told him he’d have to wait months) and told them to lock down that transmission and get it shipped ASAP.

His dealership did and he got his transmission.

I have no clue as to why he had to deal with this run-a-round but don’t just take what your service department says, call up your parts department and other parts departments at other dealerships. You might just find one sitting on a shelf somewhere at a dealership just holding on to it.

The member I helped out was @Bffy up in Edmonton. (Just looked back in my communications) he also had the 2020 and FCA told him he can put a 2021 transmission in a 2020 but can’t put a 2020 in a 2021.

I believe the 2021 is an upgrade.

Wasn't really a run-around. They were following protocol. At least in the states, here's how it works:
Dealerships get parts from a regional depot. In our case, that regional depot is in MN, likely Minneapolis? The dealer puts in an order, and the parts are either there or not. If not, they wait until the depot gets in their order from FCA.
What CAN happen - and did happen in the case of the steering gear on my 2020 -
Dealer said the depot had the steering gear and bolts and so on, and they'd have the parts the next day.
Next day came and the steering gear arrived - but no bolts. Depot inventory was wrong. Dealership apologized to me and had their depot locate the remaining parts. They found them, I believe in a depot in Washington state. They got the parts, just a day late and all was fine.
They don't check with other dealers normally. I've been told more than once that they can check other dealerships in their region, those they have agreements with, but not clear out east or out west in our case. Mostly surrounding states. Sometimes the depot may reach out and locate parts, but that's going above and beyond - it's not to be expected. It's doing you a favor. Maybe it happens if the dealership asks them to, can't say, as a depot has no skin in the game and has no customer to lose or tick off. If they find parts, it's them being nice.
But the normal process is - dealerships buy from the regional depot. If the depot doesn't have them, they stop looking unless their depot/supplier finds parts for them. Likely there's some exchange of credits or something? Dunno.
But it's not a run-around to be told there's no parts - because the dealership is correct if following protocol. Someone sitting at a phone calling every dealership in the country to find a part is above and beyond, special customer service. Someone at a dealership not sitting and calling every dealership in the country for a part isn't a run-around.

I did a lookup of a part last week, and got hits on a half dozen different MOPAR parts sites, including allmoparparts (Benny's place) and of those sites - 3 said the part was out of stock and not available, the other 3 did not say that and appeared as if you could order it.
It's how things go.
Frankly, I'd be really surprised to see any DEALER have a transmission! That's a big shock to me! I'd expect a couple sitting in regional depots - but for a dealer to have a transmission on a shelf? That's stupid on their part unless they have such a huge volume of business they replace a transmission at least once a month.
The dealership i bought from stocks over a million dollars of parts - but can't have everything and I'd bet they don't have transmissions or engines - even short blocks. That's dumb for a business to stock because of the inventory charges/costs.
