Thoughts on this Carmax Gladiator?

Looking at replacing a 2020 Nissan Titan Pro4x(literally perfect condition/15k miles/every option) for light hauling/towing. I have a 2500lb(empty) travel trailer that I plan on towing. I found this 2022 Gladiator HA--They have it listed as an overland. Decent trade value of $39k on the Titan with the price of $47k on the Gladiator with 6k miles. Is this a fair deal financially or should I pass. I already paid $250 to lock up the Jeep and have it transferred to me to WI. At the very least, I'll be able to do the 24hr test drive to see how well the gladiator will pull my travel trailer. New 2023 HA models in the are were going to cost close to $20K and my truck OTD. The Carmax 2022 will be around $8800 and my truck OTD. Not too familiar with Gladiator values or trends-so I'm asking for some opinions. Thanks in advance--Gladiator link is here--

A little 16' basecamp.......2500lbs empty and about 3500 loaded. I checked before shipping--The jeep has the tow package so it's rated to 6000 lbs with a 1160 payload listed on the door. Shouldn't be too stressed.....

There's the window sticker. Carmax does a terrible job of listing jeep packages (they aren't alone).

Go to jeep.com. Build a new 2023 the way you'd want it then assume 10k off the MSRP. Look at the used 22 HA and the new glad you've built minus 10k and see which one you like for the price better. Buy that one.

FYI, High Altitudes are Overlands, in the same sense that all trims not named High Altitude, Overland, Rubicon, Launch Edition, or Mojave are Sports.

For sure--but if I trade my Titan in I could get the money for the Jeep back within that 30 days but I would be unable to get the Titan back. I would have to buy something else at full retail. I love my Titan--had it since new and have taken really good care of it. If the Jeep doesn't work, i definitely want to keep the Nissan--so I need to find this out before making the trade......

The High Altitude vs. Overland is the quilted seats, painted bumper and a few other trim fancies plus the wider axles. Still 3.73 ratio, but a bit of extra width.


One reason I skipped the internet stuff is that a dealer gave me more in trade on my 2020 than Carmax or Carvana or others would do, I got to keep my 2020 until the new 2022 came in, and I didn't have to pay the difference in sales tax. Trade worked better than doing the internet stuff even thought the numbers at first glance said otherwise.
But it's going to vary with your own local taxes and licensing and your finances and needs.
I could not be without a truck for 3 months until a new one came in. Dealer guaranteed prices on my trade and a new one.

Definitely like the looks of the High Altitude extras. This particular one with the sting grey paint with the gloss back accents is just a really sharp color combo in my eyes. The only think I can see changing is adding the satin black steel bumper and ditching the side steps for the gladiator rock rails--strictly an appearance preference. I priced a few of these at dealers locally--none of them came close to the deal for the 2022. They all seem to be at around double of the cost of the carmax gladiator. I just don't think that a year newer with 6000 miles less is worth financing another $8000. This one shows really well and the PO installed a really nice hard tonneau cover and spray in bed liner. That would save me another $1500 over buying the local 2023 models that didn't come with those options. I'll find out soon enough if this one is clean enough to warrant a purchase tho. Thanks for the advice with this and with the towing!

Too funny! The painted bumper is the only thing that I think is a little overkill on these things. That's the cool thing about Jeeps tho--can tailor them to individual preferences. I love the look of the steel bumper and the rock rails on the HA--I know it's kind of a contradiction considering the road going point of it--but it is a cool look. They came in the "capability" package--It will be the only changes make(I hope) A local dealer currently has this 2023 HA with that package--looks good with the grey

I was in this camp too, if the 4xe came out I was going to trade my gladiator. But now a few things have changed and I placed an order for a different rig all together. So fingers crossed that the new rig lives up to the hype.
