Anyone experienced this one and tracked down a solution?

I first thought maybe front driver speaker so I removed the grille, added some foam around it, speaker seems very tight in there too.

Sounds like rattling maybe coming from behind the gauges or behind that left most A/C.

Looking from underneath, and tilting the wheel up hard, it sounds like it’s above the steering column, further confirming.

How the heck do I get in there and anyone encountered and solved this one?

I know I know turn the radio up, and I do. But also, OCD. ?

My last rattle up front turned out to be the windshield bolt on the far left. Drove me nuts for a day or two till I remembered that I had it apart and may have forgotten final torque on that.

you only turn up the radio after you know what it is and can’t/don’t want to bother.

I’ve had the following rattles in/around the dash. Maybe one of these helps.
  1. Security gateway rattling against other components: There’s evidence that this has been addressed by Jeep as there are foam pieces here. I wedged a piece of cardboard in between the gateway and the component behind it and it’s never rattled since. Note the 3.0 is different under here, but it’s behind the drivers access panel. I believe I isolated this by driving with the panel off and reaching down grabbing various things.
  2. Front top of dash speakers: The factory speakers rattled. The aftermarket drivers speaker rattles (with high frequency music or voice). I think the bolt loosens because tightening the sheet metal screws fixed it once. They’re partially stripped. I haven’t spent much time investigating this further.
  3. ACC windshield sensor box cover: This rattles all the time. It’s hard to tell where it’s coming from. It frequently sounds like it’s coming from much lower, like actually in the dash. If I simply touch or tap the bottom surface of the plastic cover it stops. I haven’t investigated this either since I can halt the sound for a while by touching the box. It’s become a weird Jeep sacrament I do while beginning any journey.
  4. Grab bar tray: Obviously this is self-induced but my son leaves Legos and other toys in it, candy, screws, rocks and other junk find their way in there. It also sounds like it’s coming from in the dash. I check this frequently.
  5. Dash knee speakers. These rattle/distort from loud music occasionally. Eventually I’ll replace the speakers.

I’ve got my knee panel off so going to see what I hear. I swore it was the speaker panel, pulled it and that speaker seems in their tight. And I even padded the speaker grilled when I replaced it thinning it was coming from there.

Driving me nuts….

Yeah, my little speaker rattle I don’t fully understand. It’s an aftermarket replacement. I stuffed the area with poly fill out of habit from my sub box building days. I’ve checked the screws since and they’re partially stripped (more like typical sheet metal screws). It seems to rattle with high frequencies like voices (some specific songs more than others). But it also seems to just rattle anyway. I need to pull the speaker and do some more experimenting. I’ve wondered if the cover itself was rattling.

Mine sounded like plastic rattling, so I thought speaker grill had room and some play, nope. I thought same about maybe my SGW extension or the unit itself moving, but that's really low and this sound is higher. Sounds like it's below the speaker, maybe behind that left most A/C vent.

I’ve pulled most of the dash apart but not behind the instrument cluster. You can probably pull the speaker and partially access that area although I don’t remember if there’s a cup under the speaker or not.

Is there a repository of rattles/solutions on this forum? We need that.

I have this on the right hand side around the dash speaker. But I recently pulled everything out and checked and found nothing and then installed new speaker with poly, etc but the rattle is still there. I rechecked everything and it all seems to be tightly connected. Totally baffled
