Any idea what this threaded stud is for?

On my '22 JTRD this threaded stud is welded to the frame in my drivers side rear wheel well and it's dangerously close to my falcon 3.3's. It had a black nut screwed onto it that I took off, leaving just the stud behind. I'm thinking of just cutting it off and be done with it. Passenger side does not have it. I've asked others with JT's and none of them have it either. Google searching brings up bubkis.

Any ideas what this is for?

*EDIT*: Answer found. It’s a grounding point. My plan is to trim it to avoid damage to the shock adjustment dial.

There is nothing like this on the Passenger side rear wheel well. The passenger side has a hole in the frame where this bolt would be.

Ah, good point. I don't believe so, but it's hard to tell as that part of the frame is fully enclosed.

Just below this bolt on the drivers side, there is a hole in the frame identical to the one on the passenger side. I was able to stick a small hex key in there and poke around a bit. It doesn't feel like anything is on the other side of the bolt.

Yeah, that's what my passenger side looks like. I've seen other JT's that look like that too, on both driver and passenger sides of the vehicle.

I'm starting to think you're right about it being a ground. Maybe they forgot about it after frame assembly? Although, it's odd it got past all the various inspections.

Just snapped this shot driver's side rear, also a 2022 rubicon but non-diesel version. Now I'm wondering if I'm missing something lol.

That is ground base stud. I would chalk it up to a manufacturing mistake.

I cannot. Tried several wrenches and even a pair of vice grips. No dice.

I think you’re right. I’ve asked several friends with JTs and now you guys and no one has this on their gladiator.

I’m just gonna cut it off, paint over it, and call it a day.

I know you got a diesel but attached is the ground location diagram for the 3.6L gasser. Nearest ground in that area is inside the frame rail on a cross member.
