Very good points, Grubby. Although assuming I needed more air out, I did not consider less air flow through the radiator. I'll try a few different things and let you guys know if I come up with a winner, I think more airflow past the motor is advantageous, mostly. Radiator fans activate because the thermostat is pegged open and the cooling system can't overcome the heat being retained by engine/engine compartment. If the thermostat is WFO, it needs more airflow through engine compartment or bigger radiator/more coolant capacity. If Mojave Dick has a hood scoop, Mojave Dick is going to use it.

Brother, you are man after my own heart. There is nothing more that I hate than fake. Fake intakes, fake lights, fake antennas, fake boo...(wait those aren't fake, they're enhanced and therefore good)

But yes, if I had a hood scoop I'd be trying exactly what you're trying. Maybe you can find a way to reduce the intake volume some and route it to the air cleaner? Otherwise, I think you'll need to take a few ideas from the XJ playbooks

Big 10-4, I'll have to look into that. I would rather have no hood scoop, than a fake hood scoop.?

You can pioneer adapting the 392 scoop apparatus to the stock 3.6 intake.
That would be nice to have, from what I've gathered, the hood components would be the same, but ducting would have to be modified. I don't mean to boast, but I too consider myself a ninja.

FYI, I've had my Mojave hood scoop functional for about 3 months now and have not noticed any unusual noises, even at 75MPH. I also removed the under-hood liner.

Well hell, this is troubling. Mine is white too, so it can't be that. Maybe it's just me, which is usually the case. Got up to 50mph with my scoop taped closed and no wind howl. I may have to start looking at the firewall for air leaks. I always get a warped one.

The only other thing I did under the hood so far is to reverse the hood prop catch. It was bothering me.

I've measured and priced up getting the Hydro guide system from a 392 hood for my Mojave, checked one out some time ago, pretty neat system, it does have direct air into the filter box but also has a lot of air vents directed towards the wheel well area, battery and exhaust area. The vents have rubber flap valves that shut air coming in when the fan pressurizes the engine bay, I am going to do it , and have a plan to fab a piece of starboard with flap valves in it where air intake for engine lair box leaves. Jeep designed the system to handle tremendous amount of water entering hood scoop but those same vents force water out of air stream before going to engine. A lot of guys say you can't have air come into engine bay from Mojave scoop but Jeep did do it, I also in my mind I think the large fan does nothing for you at high speed and is probably almost freewheeling and not pushing any air until you slow down or stop, thats when you need a lot of air through the radiator and the Hydro Guide system is closed by the pressure then. There are a bunch of guys that have done it, there is a guy that bought a wrecked 392 white hood and swapped it in for short money. So do it others have and we have not died, I'm doing it pretty soon...........
Unless your problem is not the hood scoop but your dog hanging out the window howling as you fly over the bumps and that sand we drive in all the time! I don't think your a dick about this, do you.....Jack

Dick, not the best pictures the words Hydro Guide letters are right about where hood scoop is, my dealer actually gave me keys to a 392 when they first came out to check the hood vent system , when I asked if I could take it home to show my wife he said no way after you asked for the keys to the same color one as yours!…Jack
