I wish I knew more about the auto manufacturing world. Like, does it even matter if a MY23 is built after midnight on 12/31/23? The sensible portion of me would think no, what difference does it make (other than to the consumer who now has a vehicle that is instantly 1 year old and likely faces more instant depreciation). I mean on the flip side, I feel like some manufactures are already building and delivering MY24's, so how can one be okay and not the other. That said, I'm sure there's some law or regulation somewhere that forbids it lol.I didn't think about the VIN assignment. Since the VIN indicates the year, they would either be MY23, if built, or cancelled and reordered as a MY24.
If this were true (that there is no legal issue with building a vehicle with a 2023 VIN in 2024), I'd say we don't have much to worry about other than prolonged wait times.
