I didn't think about the VIN assignment. Since the VIN indicates the year, they would either be MY23, if built, or cancelled and reordered as a MY24.
I wish I knew more about the auto manufacturing world. Like, does it even matter if a MY23 is built after midnight on 12/31/23? The sensible portion of me would think no, what difference does it make (other than to the consumer who now has a vehicle that is instantly 1 year old and likely faces more instant depreciation). I mean on the flip side, I feel like some manufactures are already building and delivering MY24's, so how can one be okay and not the other. That said, I'm sure there's some law or regulation somewhere that forbids it lol.

If this were true (that there is no legal issue with building a vehicle with a 2023 VIN in 2024), I'd say we don't have much to worry about other than prolonged wait times.

Update: Dealer sent me a message this morning saying he shows a ship date of September 13th on my order. Placed on 7/14.
Whats the current status on your order? Was it built? Just curious as you dropped in your Punk'n order before everyone else on here, day after the relaunch!

So, my dealer told me on 9/13 that it was in line to get the bedliner done, and he expected it to ship on 9/14… Well, that didn’t happen, and the strike did. So, to the best of my knowledge, my completed Gladiator is sitting waiting to get loaded onto truck.

I ordered mine on July 18. I got a call from my dealer this week saying it was in JB status. Apparently he was told that the factory where they are built is on strike and that mine is at the factory next door, which isn't on strike. It's still showing a Sept 11 ship date and Sept 30 delivery, but he said it'll be pushed back and that I should have it around the end of Oct.

I’m fully anticipating my order being canceled honestly. If the strike lasts much longer why would jeep continue making ‘23s when they have so many on dealer lots and ‘24s slated to begin production soon. So while I feel lucky to have gotten my order in, I also feel disappointed that I probably won’t get the one that I ordered.
I could see them building all the 2023 sold orders and cancelling dealer orders that are not sold and then going to 2024. I think they will build any sold orders. JMO

Up until yesterday, I was on the fence and thought there was a real possibility that my order could be cancelled (which is the last thing I obviously want). That said, given that my order flipped to scheduled last Friday (during the strike), I'm pretty confident your thought is spot on. Sold orders will probably be fulfilled and they will likely cancel any dealer orders to let residual inventory sitting on lots deplete as 2024 approaches. This also helps them minimize financial exposure to E&O inventory that the impending model year will bring (dashboards, screens, grill, interior - i.e. steel gray seats, etc), consuming these residual components to build our sold orders. Really kills two birds with one stone while also satisfying us customers. Perhaps wishful thinking, but at this point I genuinely feel this is how it'll play out. It seems like the most logical path forward to me from a business perspective.

Just got an email out of the blue from my dealer, tentative ship date of 11/2/23! This news surprised me just as much as the status change to "scheduled" last Friday! Makes me believe Stellantis and UAW are closer to a deal than the media has revealed. That or they have some other ace up their sleeve....

Guess there's hope!!

Congrats on the news. My hope of a Punk'n for halloween has changed to hope for an Easter Punk'n. I am now wondering how the AGS recall will impact my order. I feel a bit like ol' Eeyore right now.

Update on mine, moved to KZ (Built) on Sept 27! Talked to my dealer and he told me it’s estimated to arrive sometime between Oct 4-Oct 16! Getting close!

Awesome! Very interesting how much movement there still seems to be at the factory for being completely shut down with the strike. Besides on Gladiators it seems folks with JL's on order are seeing some movement as well since the strike started, flip through this thread. Just curious, what were all your milestone dates? I see you ordered 7/18...when was it confirmed, scheduled, etc
