Hi All,

Have read umpteenth posts but wanted to see what everyone has to say on this. I have a HA 3.73 and currently have 18" KMC's +18 offset, and want to go down to 17's, to get some of the ride quality back and perhaps slightly downsize the tire. I run Falken Wildpeak 285/75/18s currently (35"). I run interstate driving about once a month, and say 25% offroad/beach, so its mostly rural roads or highways daily. I'd like to get some power back, and go back to C rated (My current tires are E1 rated), was originally going to re-gear but its time for new tires anyway and want to slightly reduce the size to find that sweet spot. My setup is 100LB per wheel (with the tire) as it stands now.

For the record - I have Fox Elite 2.5 adjustables and a 1.5" level on the front.

I was looking at the Fuel D696 17x9 +1 offset (32lbs), and one of these tire setups:

315/70/17 or 285/75/17. 35x12.50 seems to only be in E1 class so I think that is out, and it doesnt really accomplish what im after. Was looking at the K02's in 315x70x17 (63lbs C) or the Falken R/T01's 285/75/17 (66lbs C). Has anyone bought a K02 recently? they had a lot of crap reviews in the last couple of years and the R/T01's are pretty new but seem to be good.

Looking to see what everyone thinks and/or if you have any other opinions.

I don't think you can make a bad choice tire wise. Both have good off road characteristics, and do transition well to street and highway driving.

Both tires are in stock and available for ordering. The Falken is the better value as it has a lower price point. The wheels are also available.

Not sure if you've considered it or not, but there are a few options available in 35x11.50 in load range C.
Took a look, only have the R/T01 and the ridge grappler in that range. It’s an option, if I grab the R/T01s. Bit of a toss up Thinking about slightly smaller to preserve the powerband.

Thank you for your patronage. Much appreciated.

If I can assist with your tire purchase, let me know. I will be happy to get things over to your local store for you!

Just as another option, I switched out the stock 20" wheels and tires the day after I bought the truck to Yokohama Geolander AT GO15 285/70 R17 117T and the ride is much smoother. The 9 1/2" rims were a good choice as well.

Goodyear just came out with a new version of the Duratrac in 285/75/17 - Duratrac R/T.

I run the 315 KO2 (E) and very happy. Ride is fine on the road and quiet, they air down well in the sand and have a tough sidewall when in the jagged stuff. 20,000 miles so far and just beginning to hum ever so slightly.

I put 255-80-17 on the max tow with the stock wheels and they worked well, slightly narrower than the Rubi/Mojave size and according to the Falken catalog, 10 lb each lighter weight.

Thanks all, went with the 285/75/17 falken R/T01s. Got new bronze wheels, I’m coming from the AT3W so it’ll be good to see how these are. I almost ended up with the 35s but the weight is better on the C rated Falkens, looked at the toyos also.

will post a pic next week when they are mounted
