Short version:
Dealer damaged my hardtop replacing the glass and is replacing it with one made by "targa" who they say is the company that makes the tops for Mopar. Does anyone know if this is accurate?

Long version:
Over the summer I noticed I had the dreaded rear glass leak in my hardtop and it was like a faucet dumping into my truck every time it rained. I called dealer number 1 and was told they needed to confirm the leak and was offered an appointment in 3 months. I told them I have pictures and videos of it leaking if that helps and they said no, they needed to confirm it themselves. So I called dealer number 2 who is who I bought my truck from. They had an appointment in 1 month. I again explained I have pictures and videos and they also said they need to confirm it, so I wait the month for my appointment.

When I arrive for my appointment they tell me they have no record of my appointment. I show them the numerous texts and emails confirming my appointment and they go "oh, ok. Can you leave it for 4 days over the weekend?" I explain that I was told this was a short appointment to confirm there was a leak and there's no way to leave my truck for 4 days with no loaner. They reluctantly take my truck back and bring it back out 30 minutes later covered in water and some sort of oil all over the hardtop and bed and say "yep its leaking. Our warranty person isn't in today so we will call you when they are so we can make another appointment to replace your glass." So I wait a few days and hear nothing. After several messages they tell me they have my glass in and to make an appointment. I'm given an appointment in 2 weeks.
Day of my appointment comes and I drop my truck off and tell them I'll be back after an appointment. 5 hours later and they tell me it's done and to come with them and they bring me into the garage and the shop foreman tells me they damaged my hardtop getting the glass out and he shows me the numerous pry marks that the glass guy tried to cover with a glossy black paint. He tells me they will cover getting it repaired and gave me a card to their bodyshop to call.
I contact the bodyshop and explain who I am and he said he was expecting my call and to stop by so he could see the damage in person since the pictures weren't the best. When I get to the shop the manager comes out and says "wow, this is damaged way worse then they made it sound." He said he doubts they will be able to repair it anywhere near new and he also noticed that the glass was sticking out further and thinks they didn't even install the new glass properly. He said he will contact the dealer and recommend a replacement top.
I spent the next 2 weeks leaving messages and getting no answers. I finally get someone on the phone and they agree I'm owed a new top and they will be ordering me one.
Now to my question. They told me the gladiator tops are made by "targa" and it'll be at least 2 weeks to get the replacement from them sent to jeep and then sent to them. I did some searching and can't find anything about the tops being made by "targa". I have no trust in this dealer so I'm curious if anyone knows who manufacturers the Mopar tops and if they are lying to me to give me some off brand top?

Jeepcares was involved the whole time and while they were very nice, they didn't really help with anything except offering to call, which didn't help since no one returns messages.

Not a lawyer but I would think since you had it in for warranty repair, they should be on the hook to order you a OEM replacement top. Letting them put in a non MOPAR OEM top and then you are in a situation of who will warranty that top later down the road?

I think the dealership is trying to go cheap because they are eating the cost and they cannot bill this to Jeep/Stellantis

Update

So I confirmed through Benny and the Dealer and Jeep that the replacement top is a factory Mopar part and whoever told me it was from a company called targa was wrong, so thats good. I've been waiting almost a month for the top to show up with no calls and when I call I'm told it's on the way and they will let me know when it's in. Jeepcares tells me the same thing and that it's supposed to be in this week. I get no calls so I decide to call today and I'm told it's there. Great. I asked when I can come get it installed and he doesn't know when a tech will be free or have any idea how long it will take. I ask if I can just take it and do it at home since it takes me about 30 minutes to do it myself in my garage and he said he doesn't know. His suggestion was to just show up and hope someone is free. I told him I dont have the time for that and that's not happening. There was no one there to schedule anything so now I have to call Monday when they are open to try to get a solid answer. I'm done with this awful dealer.

Just a heads up, but if you decide to take it home to self install, make 100% sure it's in perfect condition before you leave the dealership. If there's any damage you don't notice, they'll likely pin it on you for taking it before they installed it.

Even though it'll take time, I'd make them install it and make sure any further warranty replacement stuff with the new top is still firmly in their hands.

After all this, I'd say find a new dealership for further service visits.

I would be surprised if they released a uninstalled warranty part to a customer and close out the repair order as such. That opens up a Pandora's Box in how they bill out to Stellantis and document that the part was actually installed correctly to avoid liability issues.

Ditto. I know it's a pia but let the dealer do the install. This will cya and leave you with other options if something goes south. This has gone on for a bit but, better you're covered and the dealer is better on the hook than you. Just my 2 cents worth.

I'm not positive the top will be billed to Jeep since the warranty repair was for the glass replacement and the glass company the dealer used caused the damage thats requiring the replacement. I'm pretty sure the glass company is footing the bill, but I have no idea.
I'm 100% done with this dealer after this is done. I had a poor experience with them before with my rear locker sensor and only went back because i bought my truck from them and the sales department was great and the other dealer near me wouldn't look at my truck for 3 months when I first called.

Correct. As a 30-year dealership tech (retired) I can confirm that this is not procedure. They will not release any replacement part (warranty or not) to the customer for DIY install.
