As I posted in another thread my Jeep was stolen in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada last week while I was staying in a hotel in the west end. It is basically an epidemic of vehicle theft in Ottawa these days and has been for a couple years with no signs of slowing down. At one point Toyota Tacomas were going missing from dealership lots several at a time.

I really liked the Mojave and will miss it, had a great trip to Yukon with it this summer. It was problem free.

My insurane did a good job with coverage so I can't complain with the settlement amount, just waiting for the cheque.

I found a nice 2023 Rubicon Xtreme Recon a few hrs away with 5k off and did the deal on it last night. Now I know you guys south of the border are getting better deals but up here there are no incentives on 2023 JL's unless the dealerships are discounting them. I like the fact that all I really need to do is toss a new ARB Stubby and the new Warn M8000s on the front, same as the last setup. Also thinking of upgrading to Fox 2.0 shocks or Falcon 2.1 to sweeten the ride.

Thanks everybody!

I hate that your Mojave was stolen and wish you great camping and smiles with the new Jeep. I love my Rubicon JLU!

I’m glad it has worked out for you after dealing with everything. Post pics of the new ride when you get it!

I'd go larger than an 8k personally, I prefer pulling power over line speed. Run a 12k lb winch on the wife's 2022 xr. With full skids, lift, and 39s it's pretty heavy though. Adding a 13.5k on the mojave next week. Sorry to here about the theft. Our 2019 JLUR was stolen a few years back.

I had initially purchased the M8000s for for my 2015 JK, then ran it on my JKU and two Gladiators and found it to be sufficient. On the fence about going to the Zeon series, if I do I’ll go with the 10k as it is only $30 more where I will buy from.

I like the light weight of the M8000 at 55lbs bs the Zeons at 75lbs. I don’t have any plans to change the front springs, if needed I will toss in the 1/2 spacers I have lying around.

Will def post up a pic when I pick it up. Likely won't be until the 1st week of the New Year since I need to wait on the payout for the down payment. Here is a link to it: https://www.uniquechrysler.com/vehicles/2023/jeep/wrangler/burlington/on/55898727/?sale_class=new
Every time I see a vehicle stolen thread it makes me cringe.... So much can be done to actually stop this - but it wont and that is crazy to me.

Sure hope you didnt loose a lot of $$ on that situation. How infuriating it would be to get screwed out of 30K worth of accessories.

Did they also take that canoe? It looks pretty cool - is it carbon fiber?

I got lucky and only had my winch, bumper, Falcon stabilizer, 35's and canoe rack. I am very happy with my insurer at this time.

The canoe wasn't on the truck thankfully. Did 1100km over 29 consecutive days in Yukon, that canoe was my home for about a total of 40 days this summer! It felt weird after driving 14000km (about 8500miles) with it on the roof then finally driving without it! It is a Nova Craft in their 'Tuff Stuff' materials with no colour pigment in the gel coat. It looks light and less durable than it is.

Overall I am making out OK. I had planned to keep the Mojave for many years as I bought the extended warranty the same day it went missing. I was able to cancel the warranty and get my money back

I hadn't heard of that spot before but thanks for sharing! I'm looking into moving to Northern BC for work in the New Year and this isn't far from one of the potential locations where I may end up living!

Gonna dig into it and see how it looks for the loop around the series of lakes!

Nice!! Those are some big Bull Moose! Hope they were playing nice.

Did you do the loop? Internet is telling me it is 116km long, with the longest portage being 2.5km. I double and sometimes triple carry on solo (me + senior dog), 2.5km isn't bad at all.

I had a bent shaft carbon Werner double blade that I used in my canoe until I foolishly lost it in a rapid. Replaced it with a 250cm Aquabound Tango carbon. Need that length in the canoe.

Yeah that sounds about right. Somewhere around 80 miles. I did it in 9 days which at the time was the longest trip I think you were allowed to do. But I wanted to soak it up. Some people that started after me passed e up saying they only had 4 or 5 days but mn that sounds like a lot of good time wasted. the bulls were doin ok. One was super old. All grey. Overnight they ate on some bushes just 20’ from my tent. Woke up to prints all over the place. This remains one of my favorite ever trips. Wish i could do it again.

It is beautiful up/over there! I'm in Ontario and basically need to move to that part of Canada for the adventures I intend to continue with.

I also try not to rush trips when possible, I like to enjoy the days with no feelings of having to be somewhere! I slept with a shotgun beside me for bears while up there this summer. Only had one uncomfortable encounter where I was ready to shoot. Didn't like the idea of that one bit as I'm not a hunter. Fishing sure!

If you ever think of heading up there again let me know. I will have the same username on the JL forums if not active here.
