Some people fly around at 70 mph in snow on the interstate but it’s perfectly fine to go slower. DONT feel like you need to keep up with everyone else driving fast in those conditions. The truck that passes you going fast on snowy roads will be the same one you see later down the road wrapped around a tree.
But not always. Knowing how the vehicle handles is a big plus.
I’d keep some blankets/coats in the truck as well just in case you get trapped on a road in a blizzard or lost…who knows. It happened to me and my buddy in college in West Virginia once after spring break of all times.
Smart. We always carry extra stocking caps and gloves.

I live in Iowa, grew up by the Minnesota border. Good AT tires go a long ways. I'm partial to Goodyear Duratrac myself, haven't used the block heater yet started up fine with the remote start at -24 air temp the other day. One thing I do recommend buy the white bottle of power service. That is good quality diesel. Kwick Trip up in Minnesota has the best Diesel!! Avoid Casey's diesel! I've seen that stuff gel up and their pumps freeze up at -10

I have to disagree with the consensus on chains. Sure, you probably don't need or want chains on a paved road that's got a little snow on it. But I frequently take my jeep on unmaintained dirt roads that are not plowed and have had to shovel my way out several times. Chains are a definite help in situations like that and a lot more practical than a winch. You put them on just before you turn off onto the unplowed back road, and it makes a huge difference. I also think the ones with v-bars are a little more versatile.

I live in northern MN and have a ‘21 Mojave. I’m curious about an update from the OP. Let us know how you’ve adapted.

you will never need chains unless you live out in the boonies... I have a cabin that is off of a low maintained forest road and have never ever needed chains..if it gets that and you are that far off the beaten path get a snowmobile and use that.

folks in northern MN know how to desl with winter.. roads are plowed... and mostfolks drive regular cars. again, if you live off of the regular plowed roads then an AWD OR 4 WD will most likely do.

I’ve lived here for 47 years and never owned tire chains.
