Rimrocker trail

We are going to Colorado and Utah from Tampa Florida in September. We may bring our camper that has an off-road suspension. It’s a 2023 Ibex 19QBH. The gladiator is on 38’s with 5:13 gears and a Magnuson supercharger. My question is has anyone driven from Montros Co to Moab Utah pulling a camper? Thoughts?

I would worry more about that supercharger than anything. The lower end of the 3.6 Pentastar can't really handle the extra ponies that the supercharger will be putting out. I know a guy in my area, who services pools, who put a supercharger in his Gladiator and after around 20K miles began having serious issues with his engine and it was traced to the lower end not being able to handle the extra output from the supercharger.

I've driven from MN to CO and UT multiple times hauling a small teardrop. So, not really the same application but there was no issues for me. I have a stock 3.6/AT with 4.56 gears and have had 37s now 38s with beadlocks. I did decide to upgrade my front disks/pads to the powerstop Z36 truck and tow package for piece of mind for the added rotational weight.

I have not driven it, but researched quite a bit as I planned on taking it from Moab. I would not take a trailer, but I've also never towed an off road trailer. I ended up not having time and instead took the Moab Trail that runs from Moab to Gateway CO. It's some paved with some forest roads and some dirt/gravel. We made it in maybe 4 hours. Manti la Sal National Forest was vacant and had some areas I'd like to go back and camp at. That route cuts directly through. Absolutely beautiful drive.

From what I have read, you will have trouble dropping down into Moab with that trailer.

I would not take a trailer of that length. There are some tight turns.

I have done the Rimrocker from Montrose to Moab, and you cannot pull a trailer on that route. The first 40 miles out of Montrose are mostly forrest roads but after Nucla (I think that is the town) it would be impossible to pull a trailer.

Definitely can't pull a trailer that size on the Rimrocker. Even a full size truck has to do some multipoint turns to get through some tight corners unscathed.

Even a small m416? Was hoping to do this trailer with one.

I did the RimRocker last summer pulling a trailer, but not one of that size... my JT has a supercharger, lol.

The JT could do it, that trailer is not going to make it without damage if the intent is to do it all without breaking off. My previous trailer was the size of your rig.

Just my thoughts:

• Montrose to Nucla is doable for that rig.
• Everything between Nucla and the 141 crossover is rough and tight, especially coming down to 141. You won't make it towing that.
• 141 to Buckeye is not as rough, but still on the tight side and you're going to spend a lot of time navigating ledges. If you do it, you'll want to stick to the main trail.
• Buckeye to Moab is doable.

I have upgraded my pads as well to the power stop tow pads. Brakes are fine towin. I also installed to RedArck tow pro elite brake controller.

The JT could do it, that trailer is not going to make it without damage if the intent is to do it all without breaking off. My previous trailer was the size of your rig.

• Montrose to Nucla is doable for that rig.
• Everything between Nucla and the 141 crossover is rough and tight, especially coming down to 141. You won't make it towing that.
• 141 to Buckeye is not as rough, but still on the tight side and you're going to spend a lot of time navigating ledges. If you do it, you'll want to stick to the main trail.

There’s always the “I know a guy.”
My supercharger isn’t running the factory magnuson tune and the motor was thoroughly checked out by the speed shop that installed it. I also don’t abuse my vehicle
