If one side of the engine needs the work, should I look at replacing the other side too?

If the unaffected side is the drivers left side, I would not even mess with it and let it be. Overwhelming majority of head and valvetrain issues is the passenger side.

Did you ask the dealer if they'd try to get some coverage from Jeep on this since you are only 1,000 miles out of your drivetrain warranty?

Might not be worth fixing yourself if you can get Jeep to cover a good part of it.

How come?
No clue, been that way since the beginning of the Pentastar Gen 1's and carried through. Very high majority of problems with the head and valvetrain seem to be the passenger side.

It is hard to use logical deduction to narrow it down for cause. If it was a design or oiling issue, then everybody should have a problem eventually. In my opinion, that leaves a manufacturing assembly issue. But I do know either way why it is what it is.

My left side cylinder head was replaced and my right side cams lifters and rockers were replaced.
