I have never owned a vehicle where when the transmission is in neutral and I have a rear tire off the ground, that I couldn't spin the tire in the air by hand. It was acting like it was in park. Made figuring out the problem much more difficult. Is there a secret that I'm unaware of?
Did you try putting the transfer case in neutral?

No I did not do that. I thought about that later. Not sure if that's the solution to spin the tire. All my other 4X4 trucks were not like a jeep with a lever to engage so that didn't enter my mind while working on the Gladiator.

I'm only going by the Owner's manual towing instructions thinking that would work.

NOTE:
The transfer case must be shifted into N (Neutral), automatic
transmission must be in PARK, and manual transmission
must be in gear (NOT in NEUTRAL) for recreational
towing."

Thanks for the info. Only had my jeep for about 4 months and first one I've owned. I'll have to do some reading at some point to get more familiar with the vehicle. Just never knew what I was trying to do today would be an issue. Now I want to go back outside and jack up the truck again. ?

You're welcome.
I'm 11 months in my first Jeep and not only having a blast hitting the trails but also enjoying upgrading it and learning about how things work with it.

On the news today they keep rattling on about a 4.8 magnitude earthquake that was about 30 miles from me this morning. our house shook a little and there was some rumbling, which I thought was from the earthquake. But I just saw these pics and now suspect that all that shaking on the East Coast was really @Lunentucker reacting to the amount of dirt and rust on these parts from under your truck. I’ll bet if anyone can detail them back to life it’s him. ?
Thanks for noticing. Thankfully, what looks like rust is Moab dirt. You just can’t get rid of it. It sticks to the Antiseize and looks like rust. Don’t get me wrong. I have rust on diff and Lca skids, but that’s to be expected. :)

I'll take "Things I never want to do again" for 500 dollars Alex.

So 2 weeks ago, I installed a Rough Country Twin Air system underneath my passenger seat. Unfortunately, with that twin air snugged underneath the passenger seat, I was not able to run the rear floor mats, at least not without cutting them.

Rather than cut up a $200 pair of floor mats, and end up with a less that stellar solution, I decided to just sell the Mopar floor mats, and upgrade to Armorlite flooring.

Good lord! I knew that it would be a pain, but I didn't think it would take me 6 hours over the course of 3 days. Now granted, I did this right after work from 5:30 to 7:30 when the light ran out, but it dragging out that long was NOT fun! At least taking the truck appart was easy.

Biggest things that slowed me down was adding some Kilmat (2 hours) trimming the Armorlite for my AEV mount ( 1 hour), trimming for my seat risers (another hour).

My hands hurt

PS. Those front liners are hell.

Threw the seat in with my DDI fire extinguisher.

DONE!

At least that awful carpet is gone!

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to schedule an appointment with a orthopedic hand surgeon.

Full disclosure: I have my share of scrapes, rust, and dirty areas under there (pics attached for reference) and total respect for your ability to off-road way more than I can in this area. To clarify, I was using your pics to call out the immaculate way he maintains his, not bash yours. I am as envious of his detailing as I am of your wheeling, lol. I reside somewhere in the middle of both. ?

I did the Armorlite also. Not easy but still in my opinion the single best mod so far for me. You did impressive work with the kilmat! I should have taken the time to do that also but to the point of your post, there is no friggin’ way I’m going to reverse that procedure and remove the Armorlite, put kilmat under it, then install the Armorlite again. ?

I took it exactly the way you intended. I would love to take the time to clean mine up. But I barely have time to finish installing replacement parts with work and kids, and you know, hiding the parts from my wife until they’re installed. :) I feel like the whole winter was spent getting it ready for just a few wheeling trips. Thankfully I enjoy the projects almost as much as the rocks. Get out here and join us. You only live once. I’m quite thankful that we moved west five years ago. Big change, but it’s been great.

Not today, but yesterday had my local 4x4 shop add some additional skids in the rear.

Finished up adding the Mopar 2" lift kit last weekend. First I tackled something this extensive, took me 2 days but was absolutely worth it. Some of those 4 year old bolts were hard to break loose! Then centered the steering wheel which couldn't have been easier.
