Another PSI question

23 JTR. 2.5” Clayton Overland just installed as well as 37’s, Yokohama G003 MT. Just did chalk test and brought down to 27 on all corners. I'm still getting some, about 2/3, chalk on outer/inner treads. I’m kinda concerned about going lower though. Only drove it about a mile home since then. What’s the consensus on this? Too low? Go lower till chalk pattern wears totally evenly?

Chalk test is overrated. Some tires won't sit flat at any street able pressure. 27psi cold is a good pressure for 37s in my experience. I say run it and watch for even wear.

That's about where I run my 315/70 BFG KO2s for daily driving. Anything more than that wears the middle of the tread out.

Chalk test tells you optimal PSI for even tread wear and that's it.

MPG, how it responds to steering input, how it feels, those are all important too.

Gonna run 27 and see how it feels. Will check psi tomorrow morning when good and cold, get an accurate tire size and adjust using Jscan. I’ll just pay attention and see what happens.

Yea. I run my 37s around 28psi

Factory falken 32’s here.
Ive played with psi a lot.
Ran 40 cold in winter, once the tires warmed up to temp they even out about 44. Ride and steering was great. Mpg was about the same.

summer has hit so I went down to 38 and still only hit 44 on the highway once they heat up.

I may go down to 37, but the truck feels good as is.

check the side of your tire, that tells you max psi cold. (Don’t fill them to that!)
You kind of have to play with it.

on my kl I ran 39 on factory tire size bfg ko2’s. I think they were 265/?/17? Maybe 245, don’t remember. I got 60k out of them and still had a a bit before I needed tires, hadn’t even hit the wear bar after 4 years.
