So, the 3rd and 2nd section of my Mopar Hard Tri-Fold cover came apart right at the rubber/plastic "hinge"....looks like just got too much Florida sun over the 3+ years i have had the JT.

For now I have patched it with Flex Seal tape but looks like the other section will not be far behind.

Looking for alternative....I really prefer a hard tri fold cover over the soft ones or roll up ones. Looking for one hopefully more sturdy that can survive the Florida sun.

Most ive seen for Rugged Ridge, etc look to be the same design...using rubber/plastic for the "hinges".

Appreciate any suggestions?

Thanks. Ive seen that one...but looks like it also uses rubber/plastic/silicone or whatever for the "hinges". No clue if its any more tolerable of extreme sun than the whatever Mopar uses. Mine literally just broke right down the seam line all at once. I can tell the other hinge is about to do the same thing cause it looks briddle.

Have you considered buying some black powder coated piano hinge and rivet them in place of the rubber strips? Might be an alternative if you like the cover otherwise.

Bakflip! I installed one (I think it was a G2) on my 2016 GMC Canyon. Had it for 8 years..

The only issue I’ve had with it, was using some clear sealant to hold down the rubber on the lip at the tailgate. That’s it. It still looked good and worked good when I traded it in. Granted - it was garage kept.

I had another G2 installed on the JT only a few weeks ago. The new version is much much lighter and easier to open/lift, etc than the older version. Crossing fingers that it lasts just as long as the older one did!
