Well, after having a Rubicon JT previously and again later a Sport JT, I now have just traded for a 2024 Willys JT in Firecracker Red! The new Jeep is awesome and I hope to keep this one a long time. I traded a newer Chevrolet Silverado 1500 this last time and was very disappointed in all the troubles they are having with the lifter issues in their 5.3 and 6.2 V8's. I feel much better about the 3.6 V6 in the Gladiator and feel it is a proven engine. Hope I won't get beat up too much for not staying with the other Gladiators as I should have. Thanks for letting me sneak back in!!!

That red is what drew me to the JT back in 2019. I opted for blue because we'd had so any red vehicles, including Jeeps and my car, but still really like the red.

Willys is a good value point, can't really go wrong and why would anyone beat you up on it? There's others here on their third, maybe someone on their 4th already.

GMC is have a problem with the bigger engine in its trucks new year. They told brother that the engine has a fuel control issue when move from eco mode to normal and will blow the engine. His engine just blew at 18k. His daughter's mother in-law blew the engine in her Tahoe befor 20k. When he called the dealership while on the side of the interstate and told them his engine shutdown, they immediately said yeah your engine blew it has been happening with these motors. So that would lead me to believe it is fairly common. Personally I have always drove Chevy for the most part but have recently been moving to Dodge and Jeep. The Ram diesel I have although been pretty stripped down, farm work truck is by far the best work pickup I have ever had. The worst was a Ford pulley that was a complete piece of shit.

Thanks Mark! Like the looks of the red! Yes, the quality of the Chevrolet trucks has went downhill lately. Their turbomax 4 cylinder engine is good, but the 8 speed transmission that it is mated to is having ongoing issues. And the 5.3 and 6.2 V8's, are having lifter failures / camshaft damage due to the AFM and DFM (GM's cylinder deactivation processes) and failing. Class action lawsuits are popping up against GM. Sad because GM use to make a darn good vehicle.

Thanks Bill. I think the Willys will be a good option for me. I traded in the white 2021 Rubicon JT on a 2022 Ford Ranger Tremor at the time to get money back, which I did to the tune of $10K, to help with one of my dog's double knee surgeries. Sheesh, that was over $8K. And then I traded the black 2023 Sport S because I wanted to get a pull behind RV and bought the Silverado that was more capable to pull a RV. Then later I was informed by the boss (wife) that she really wanted to stay at a motel rather than in a camper! So, with all the issues GM is having engine wise, I decided to go back to a Gladiator. Plus, it is slightly skinner and fits in my garage! Glad you are still here and good to hear from you again!!!

You are confirming what I have read, Michael. Lots of trouble with GM engines. I have had good luck with Fords overall though. I really like their 5.0 coyote V8's. I have heard good things about the RAM trucks and glad the RAM diesel is working out great for you! Never had a RAM truck, maybe someday, but sure like the Gladiator I just bought!

We've got 6 or 8 2020 or newer silverados with the 5.3 in our fleet here at work. ALL of them have been in the shop for lifter issues and torque converter shudder. Mine has had the lifters fail 4 times in 15k miles.

We do what we do for our family members. Tuvak, yikes, $500 for the adoption, 2500 in 2016 after he swallowed a needle, and the thyroid issues, between the blood work and vet visits and then the radioactive iodine - another 4K.
I'm starting to call him Tuvak, the 6 million dollar cat.
But thinking of all of the days and evenings he'd not be jumping on my shoulder and riding around the house, or cuddled in my arm for some TV at night.......

My "justifications" for moving away from my 2011 Silverado to the first JT - the 2020 are similar. Fits the garage better, easier to park, and my wife and I having sold our camper - for the reason she was getting away from the camping mood and more into hotels (leaves more time to go see and do things - and we live on the edge of nature anyway)

Your adventures in trading - so familiar.

I think if they got rid of the blue for some reason, I'd be going for red for the next one.
It's a good red, like my wife says. They picked a good shade of red.

Enjoy.
