For me it's about ease of use and I already have a I Phone so the I Pad mini would be my choice. I want enough storage to download all I need at home.

Maybe some one has said it, but the 8.4" with Car play works great if the software your using has it. Gaia does car play and has off road maps that are down loadable.

You can use Gaia (maybe Trails Offroad, can't remember) in android auto and cast to your screen. Not huge, but it is in the right spot to see it.
What he said!

Did a quick search and it supports GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BDS, QZSS. Although not IP68 if I go with this I would look for a case that does the same.
Is “supports GPS” the same as GPS built in?

I assumed so, and bought a Samsung tablet that did not have GPS, and I did the GPS add on in my Jeep. PITA

I ended up with the Tab A8 2022 LTE. Be careful whichever tablet you pick as there are a lot of models that don't support Android Auto. The good news was that the case fit perfectly in the Ram Mount. This is the first tablet that hasn't been laggy or just a general PITA to work so I'm pretty happy with it.

I went with Lenovo P11 pro gen 2. Never tried plugging it in to Android auto. But Gaia works on it, it has GPS, movies to download when camping. Just have to find a clamping system to hold it. Not the lightest one for sure.

I couldn't run my tablet mounted that high. I find it to be too distracting and also blocking a good portion of the windshield.
It may look like that but never did it interfere with any of the trails or obstacles I tried. If you zoom in I was at a 35° decent as an example.

I have a old Samsung tab S2 8" that I bought for $100 5 + years ago, likely cheaper now. Has GPS, GLONASS 3GB/32GB memory etc.. Have a insane amount of apps on it plus all western states trails etc. Works great.
