Just bypass the aux battery. No need to remove it now.
At the very least this will isolate both batteries and allow you to determine which one's causing the issue.

1. Remove the AUX ground from the main ground group
2. Tape the exposed connector on the cable to prevent incidental grounding and zip tie it out of the way.
3. Remove fuse F42

That's all you have to do. Now you can charge the main battery and see if the problem is gone. I'm betting it will be.

The second battery is always the xxxx. All comments are great. Mine went out as well, dealer charged it for 2 hours and works as normal. But I bypass that stupid NO/OFF. Old school works best for me. Thanks to all.

Definitely search this forum for Aux Battery Delete as there is a way to actually fully disconnect it forever if it’s your desire to do so. Personally, I left mine installed and connected but certainly now know the warning signs of the impending failure: I was getting the ESS and Aux Switch warnings for 2 weeks before it actually failed. I just didn’t understand what that was telling me.
Lite Brite has a temp quick fix for this in one of their videos. They're not for everyone but this fix will get you home

Once every two weeks, I hook up the charger/maintainer/desulfator to my main battery for 24 hours or so. By default, does that also charge the smaller auxiliary battery?

Yes. The two batteries are paralleled together all the time, except during the startup test and during ESS events.

Perfect. Thank you. The main battery is an AGM battery, what is the secondary battery?

The aux battery is also an AGM.

I figured it would have to be since they are in parallel. Eventually, I'll swap the main battery for an Odyssey. Do you know if Odyssey, Optima, or another high-end brand make a replacement auxiliary battery?

I have not seen one. from Odyssey or Optima. I ended up with a Delco when I did the Grand Cherokee earlier in the year.

I got lucky as I did get 7 years out of the factory batteries in it.

I'll try to be disciplined and keep the batteries on the charger/maintainer/desufator at least twice per month. If so, then I hope to get at least 5 years out of the OE batteries, if not more.

Didnt notice that, is Bolo the back up battery?
The horn chirp sounding puny was my sign that the batteries were going out…I just didn’t know it at the time. The tech stated they were low, but fine. He put a deep charge on him and within 30 minutes or so they almost left me stranded at a restaurant after leaving the dealership.

I borrowed a buddy’s jump box that had enough oomph to turn over my diesel the next morning when I returned to the dealership and they elected to replace both batteries. While in the dealership I went on Amazon and purchased the unit pictured below since battery cables won’t do you any good if there’s no one around to jump you off.
