I had the Leer 100XR on my Power Wagon for 12 years. It had the sliding side widows, and the sliding cab widow that was removable. The inside had the heavy felt lining with a led light at the front and rear.

After about 7 years. The clear coat started to peel. The side widows had to be resealed because they started to leak. Remember that this truck had did most of the trails at Moab, Rausch Creek, the Badlands and a few others. The paint had custom pinstriping by mother nature. Structurally, it was a sound cap.

I am mostly leaning toward the Leer because it appears to have a much steeper slope in the back ie you dont loose a ton of space because of a steep slant back. Either cap is going to get cut up and glasses right away if I proceed with the current plans so it will need to be re-painted or faded in at least.

I bounced the shit out of that cap. It never cracked the fiberglass.

That's great to hear!! So hopefully it would hold up to what I have in mind.

Recommend the rear window leak solution of the tube or weather strip, before adding the cap. Even if it isn't leaking yet. Easier to do before the cap goes on.

We have an ARE CX Classic. It works. We have the sliding windows but I may swap them out for something which opens outward as well. Access while camping is nice. But if not too tall then it's possible to sleep diagonally in the back, where the sliding windows are also nice.

Getting the opening side windows was the best choice I could have made. Getting stuff in and out is easy. They seal up well against dust. What little room I loose due to the slope rear and sides is not missed.

I had mild concerns over the side-opening window handles catching against tree branches, but I suppose that isn't really a problem.

I managed to measure the slope on my Leer today. (Sorry, no pics). With a 4’ straight edge on the tailgate, there is right at 3” of slope towards the cab, at the very top.

The pictures are certainly a help, thank you.

I will be cutting out the window of the canopy and hard top and big holes in the roof anyway, so I'm not too worried. My rear glass does leak already even with the weather strip. I was going to lay a nice thick bit of dicore in there which would seal it up well but with cutting holes it won't be present to be an issue.

Oh man this is excellent news! So it's almost totally flat like my current. I can work with that bit of slope. The 8" of the ARE will just kill the plans I had in mind. Thank you for taking that measurement it's a huge help! 🍻

Let me correct myself. There is about 5” of slope. Still not as much as the ARE.

Greeting, had this Leer 100XQ installed this Thursday. Paint match is spot on. Definitely more secure than the rollup tonneau cover I had on it previously.

This is awesome! And the perfect picture to give an idea of the back sloping. Would you mind snapping a photo cab high so I could see how much the top curves and how close it is in line with the Jeep hard top height? I'm hoping you could basically put a piece of wood up there and have it totally flat and level.
