Hey guys wanted to show off my new Topo Toppers camper anyone else here running one? I had a GFC prior to this and 2 tent and rack setups but this so far is my favorite. I had recently got rid of my GFC camper a few months ago I really wasn't happy with the quality and bed setup on the GFC.

I wasn't necessarily looking for another camper so fast but this one came across on market place. I had heard of Topo but never seen one in person so I wanted to check it out. I really liked the quality and bed setup on these campers.

The best part was the original owner bought the camper and while waiting for it to be delivered bought a tow behind camper and when this one got in he ultimately decided it wasn't for him he was an older gentleman and couldn't get up and down in it well he said. So he had the camper mounted on his truck for a month sitting in his garage and decided to sell it with out even using it once. So I got a pretty much brand new camper for a heck of a deal I paid $6500 for it.

I love the way the Gladiator looks like with a camper on it and I can't wait to get this one out camping.

Looks good, can't wait for your review on it. In some ways I can see why you got it from the previous owner. I'm setting in my Scamp T.T. right now reading this. I took my R.T.T off about 2 weeks ago. If I could haul my 4wheeler or boat and Scamp at same time the R.T.T wouldn't be a thing for me.

Nice! I have a Lone Peak Camper on mine and it’s great. In my opinion, a canopy camper on a gladiator is just about the perfect go anywhere vehicle.

And you are right, a camper on a gladiator just looks right.

there are a lot of nice options out there right now. My personal opinion is that the go fast camper is probably the least desirable of all the campers currently being made.

Nice I was looking at the Lonepeak to actually go with next but I couldn’t pass up the deal on this one. Yeah the GFC just doesn’t have the quality or options for the price point now

Can we get some shots or a video inside? I'd love to see how you climb up in it, and up into the bed, as well as how much space is inside.

Looks like a great camper top! I like how it doesn't put a bunch of bulk into the slipstream causing aero drag.

Yes I’ll be doing a walk around video of it on my channel and I’ll link it here. It’s super low profile and the back section when popped up has enough room for me between the bed and camper to climb up. You can also push two of the bed panels forward to have the whole bed open.

Looks good but I'll just use the Gazelle tent and an easy up . total weight 75 pounds. Total $500. Bears can't open the zippers on the Gazelle so I am safe.

As someone who eyes this with a target of maybe, next summer, can anyone comment on the GFC issues mentioned in this thread? My understanding was that they were pretty high quality. Have they just gotten too expensive due to demand (and other options are just as good at a lower price?).

Any details on the negative GFC comments appreciated!

I’ve had a GFC and now a Topo Toppers the GFC just seemed put together bad they use a lot of quarter turn bolts and they rattle loose. I had issues with the camper leaking not when open but when closed up and driving. The old bed was way to firm and not a great way to swap out mattress since the bed platform and mattress are almost like one piece. I didn’t like how there was no access to the bottom level when up in the bed. So far the Topo seems to have a better build quality I haven’t had it long enough to see about any leaking. The mattress also isn’t great in the Topo but it’s a regular mattress you can swap out. There is a gap between the bed and rear of the camper where you can climb up and down. So far I like the Topo better

What version GFC did you have? Where were you having issues with leaks? I've had mine for about 2 years and haven't had any leaks, or loose hardware. The original sleeping pad wasn't the greatest but the new pads that they use are better.

On your Topo is it just the side windows or can the panel open up too?

Also, what bracket are you running for your cowl lights?

I haven't actively looked, but I've actually never seen negative reviews about GFC quality until this. I'm actually surprised, because they beat the drum of quality/american made/customer support on their socials all the time.

Did you reach out to them about it?

IMHO the GFC offers the least bang for your buck. The very fact that were charging $500 for side windows on the tent is asinine. And not having the windows/flaps zip at the bottom is a dumb decision.

They just have some really poor design choices. The ONLY reason they are so popular is because they were one of the very first to offer a canopy camper.

I had the V2 and the leaks were when the tent was closed and driving in the rain or parked on a hill. After the rain I would pop it up the tent would be wet and also the bedding since the tent materiel was sitting on top of the bed. It’s a known issue GFC has their own forum and it was all over. They’ve been trying to put out a fix for it. The Topo I have just has windows they don’t open but you can get side panels that open. I don’t mind just the windows the jeep is almost to tall to be able reach in if the sides did open. And the brackets are just Amazon ones I think they were like $35 bucks

Did you ever find out where the source of the water was when it was closed? I have a V2 as well, and can power wash the entire camper and no water intrusion. And I'm on those forums as well.

I like the windows since they would probably add some light during the day and be able to keep the panels closed, but having the panels open is nice to be able to get out all my gear. And yeah, true, my bed is almost to my shoulders so its a reach but doable.

Do you have any issues with wobbling with the brackets? My LP4s wobble on trails because of the single point mount.
