I just got my Topo Topper installed down in Ventura at the Topo Topper HQ. I got the Badlander model (full pop up) with all my options it was $11,600. I ordered it mid June and got it October 3rd. I’m not sponsored in anyway, I may be slightly bias since I spent a good chunk of change, but I stand by everything I say about this amazing camper. (Sorry for the incoming rant/incoherent praise)

The guys at Topo topper are incredibly friendly, especially the owner Thomas. They have a great American business there, while I waited for them to mount my camper, I watched them do every stage of building a camper from cutting the metal to sewing the tent fabric. Was fun to spend a day at the HQ and just hangout with them, it was nice to be around people who were just as excited for my new camper as I was.

The camper sets up very fast, and I imagine I’ll get the point where I can do it in 60 seconds. I’m able to store an extremely thick 0 degree sleeping bag and two smallish camp pillows inside the bedding area, although I could probably cram more if I tried. The included matress is two layer foam a soft top layer with a firm bottom(or Vice versa). Weight of the camper is slightly over 300lbs.

Before I got the camper I was very worried about the on road driving characteristics, especially in high winds. I drove the camper through fairly extreme 45 mph cross winds in the Mojave and honestly, I think my truck handles the wind better now than it did without the camper. I think closing off the bed from the wind has helped and the extra weight makes it harder for it to be pushed around in the wind.

I cross shopped this with the GoFast but decided against it due to (at the time) the lack of a constant pass through space from the bed area to the truck bed. And the Topo offered more features and a full pop up instead of a wedge, at almost the same price. The GoFast still looks awesome, not throwing any shade at their product.

Acceleration is to be expected, slightly slower. But I am on stock 4.10 gears with 37s. I got 13-15mpg through the Mojave and ended my trip home with 20mpg (lots of downhill and I drove it very conservative) I still may regear, but we’ll see.

I truly believe Topo Topper is being completely slept on by Gladiator owners as I’ve only seen one post on here and only 1 YouTube video with a Gladiator owner with one.

Please, if you have any questions about this topper or just want to talk about campers in general, I’d love to chat.

If you truly care about fuel mileage, try what I did. I bought a bar mount rack that comes with two bars that mount to the rain gutters. I will not mention the brand because the coating on the Hoak Off-road Racks lasted two car washes. I used one of these racks and put a Thule flairing on it just over the windshield. This pushes the wind over the camper shell. I got 3-4 more MPG by doing this.

Congratulations on your new set up, it looks awesome!
Do you have to access the sleeping area through the interior of the bed as opposed to using a ladder from outside?

Exactly, I access the bed area through the inside of the camper. There is a 22inch pass through space to climb into the bed space. There’s actually no way to access it from the outside.

I optioned 8’ of L track across the top of the camper. I believe this will allow cross bars to be installed.

Thanks! Not too sure what awning I’m gonna get just yet. It’ll be left blank until the budget allows anyhow.

Looks great and that's such a bargain at under 11k. Definitely the route I'd go if I wasn't trying to sleep a family of 3.

I've been looking at the Tune M1 but it's nearly double the price once fully built to my spec. 😓 Still something on my radar for the future.

Topo toppers makes a bigger camper that looks similar to the Tune M1 called the Rincon. Not sure what the pricing comparison looks like, but might be worth checking out

That's pretty cool. I always liked those topper campers. How hard is it to climb up inside?
