Just got my 22 Gladiator a couple weeks ago and miss having good bass. I have been searching the forums for a while now trying to find information on options for installing subwoofers into my gladiator. Maybe my question is dumb, but I haven't been able to find a clear answer or information on this.
Since my gladiator has the Alpine premium audio package with the factory subwoofer behind the back seat, I'm unsure of what routes I can go for the signal for the new amplifier and subs. I know the PAC and T harness for the factory radio is an option to have RCA hookups, but I have read people having issues with this setup, ranging from draining batteries to functions of the Uconnect system not working properly.
Can I even use a line output converter for the RCA's with the premium audio? If I recall right, I saw somewhere that I wouldn't have any level control over the subs because of how the premium audio system works. I know sound quality will probably be better with the T harness and a PAC, but for the price and to avoid potential problems, I'd like to see if a LOC is even an option.
I'm coming from my 2015 Grand Cherokee that I had 2 15's on 4.5k watts running on a LOC, so I'm okay with the drawbacks LOC's carry. If anyone has some real input on how much better, if any, the T harness and PAC is over a LOC (if a LOC is even possible to use on my gladiator).
I am waiting for my Fox Acoustics 2 10's sub box to come this week, and already have a 3k watt VFL amp. Will pick out subs once I have the box, so I can go to the local audio shop and test fit some subs. Fortunately, I know the owner and he will let me open and try to find the meatiest 10's I can fit.
Any info and advice is welcome. I am pretty well versed in the audio world, not so much the gladiator world yet. I will be following up with pictures and such of the install as it progresses.
