Mopar OEM 82215608 Running Boards Question

What are these OEM running boards really made of? I've seen different descriptions saying "molded", "formed", and "steel with texture coating". Anyone have actual for real OEM boards who can verify the material they're made of (metal or plastic)?

They are mostly molded plastic, but they do have some steel reinforcements around the mounting bracket areas, and I think the mounting brackets may have internal metal reinforcement.

They are very rugged for what they are, which is running boards / side steps - meaning they don't flex when you stand on them. They will not function as rock sliders or provide any significant protection.

Thanks everyone for your replies! My wife and I are new to the Jeep culture, and we are having a lot of fun so far. These running boards seem like a fairly good choice to help reduce dirt from getting on the sides.

They are very good at that, but I suggest installing some type of front mud flaps as well.

I have the 82215608 running boards on my Mojave along with Rokblokz mud flaps and my sides stay super clean.

Thanks again everyone for your comments! My wife found a pair of new Mopar OEM take-offs on Craig's List in the North Atlanta area. We bought them and put them on -- easier for both of us to get in the cab now!
