Sounds weird but maybe we should invest more into education and job training programs? You think blue collar workers will have a place in this world you speak of?
That's a whole other issue. Both of my sons are college graduates. One is a special education teacher and makes peanuts which is a crime considering what he does. My other son has a degree in criminal justice and is yet to land a job in that field. Both of their educations cost a ridiculous amount of money. My feeling is that the juice may not be worth the squeeze. I would never tell them that as I want them to pursue their interests. If I had it to do again I think I may have tried harder to street them towards a trade. Maybe a 4x4 mechanic for instance, we all know how much they charge.Sounds weird but maybe we should invest more into education and job training programs?
My daughter has a B.S. with a double major in biology and chemistry. That's a whole other issue. Both of my sons are college graduates. My fault for being unclear about "education". I meant in the general term as in being educated and/or trained in a practical skill that would net you a job. That could be a traditional education via a university that can lead toward an engineering degree, medicine, pharmaceutical etc, or trade schools like plumbing, electrician, many areas of construction, fabrication etc. Unskilled blue collar work is going to be extinct. That' s the future. You either be prepared for it, or not.None of my 4 girls picked an engineering program. The 3 oldest married engineers so they listened a little. Degrees aren't requires - skills in a high paying field are. Plumbers are high skill and can make significant money if they get out of working for national chains.
I wouldn't recommend education to anyone. I did a stint at a university for a couple years early in my career. Can't live off that money
The companies need to be forced to pay an automation tax to fund UBI. The other option is an always climbing unemployment rate and we all pay for the welfare the unemployed are on.I can’t help but weigh in on one thing here…I don’t know who is going to pay for UBI, but we are too far in debt, as a country, to be able to afford that…
As far as tariffs go, they will raise prices. It doesn’t mean that they can’t be a successful part of a larger plan, but prices will go up, should they be implemented.
Don't know what this "larger plan" is, or concept of a larger plan as it were. What is clear is that prices will go up. We been through this, corporations and manufacturers know exactly what to do. Reduce output and increase price equal higher profit. We've lived through this during the pandemic and has continue to do so. Here's round two.As far as tariffs go, they will raise prices. I agree, prices are going to go up if they are fully implemented.Don't know what this "larger plan" is, or concept of a larger plan as it were. What is clear is that prices will go up. We been through this, corporations and manufacturers know exactly what to do. Reduce output and increase price equal higher profit. Or the country falls apart due to division and economic troubles. The companies need to be forced to pay an automation tax to fund UBI. The other option is an always climbing unemployment rate and we all pay for the welfare the unemployed are on.
The only way that this could/would be structured is if the IRS/government directly taxes those specific companies that make money off of eliminating jobs through automation. Not too hard to think of hypothetical situation where:I can’t help but weigh in on one thing here…I don’t know who is going to pay for UBI
